And it's not a recession unless you can blame it on the party PREVIOUSLY in office, right?bart said:You are confused. It is not a recovery until there is an elitist from the people's party in the Oval Office...

I too am please that things are moving because I have been waiting forever. I got my commercial and started flying freight just before September 11, just in time for the market to dry up for almost 3 years. I've been paying my dues flying in the trenches ever since and am just now putting some apps out. In the mean time I've racked up 4500 hrs, 3200 part 135, 1500 multi, 600 IFR and 1000 turbine PIC. I hope those numbers are to someone's liking, preferably Eagle or Xjet.
Waiting...
All ours went to SkyWest & Great Lakes. The average times for SkyWest 1500TT 250multi 2-year degree from two of them, 4 year from one other; they also had a former CFI now FO walk in their resume. The GL guy had 1100 TT 100muti, no college, and no resume walk in.Stifler's Mom said:Where did they get hired?...and what are their flight times? Was curious to know.

Unfortunately until the majors begin to hire and suck up the 9000+ furloughed pilots we wont see significant long term "recovery".

But taking a furloughed major airline pilot and putting them in the right seat at a regional doesn't create movement in our industry.
Traditionally when major airlines hire, they suck up the regional airline Captains, which create a vacancy so F/Os upgrade, which creates a vacancy so a pilot must be hired.
So lets say in a few years the majors start to hire again. Now you've got all of these somewhat junior F/Os at the regional who happen to already be well-qualified former major-airline pilots. The majors hire THESE guys and, since they're being sucked out of junior copilot seats, no additional movement is created.
Just my opinion. I'm glad that hiring is occuring at the regional level, but a LOT more is going to have to happen for the industry to return to the 1999 paradigm of 3 year upgrades and 5 years to the majors.
