Bahhhh.... Ignore all the "my friend was there and told me..." stories. I spent almost a year in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea flying a WSCoD. It was the most fun flying I've ever done. If you're young, adventurous, and single, go for it. Day to day living will probably suck, and you'll be frustrated in ways you can never imagine. (I used to think there was a limit to stupidity, but after dealing with beaurocracy in a dictatorship, I know otherwise...) You will have a blast.
