What do you all think about a 7 yr Regional Cpt starting over at NJA? I'd like to hear all pro's and con's. I have killer seniority here, but NJA looks awfully good from here!!

Thanks

Hmmm...... Don't know about that.... I work a lot less then you do, would be willing to bet on that... Depends where you live and if you are willing to move to the crazy domiciles NJA has set up or not.

You aren't going to be a running the show for a long time.. Maybe 3 yrs or so.

That is a tough one.

Have had three bolt for the blue (that I know of) and the one guy I know well is well...kind of happy. He likes the 121 lifestyle, but is still commuting. He doesn't need a crash pad (he got on about two yrs ago) and can hold a line (I think it's a lot of red-eyes out of Long Bch), so he's set on that front.

I think he's kind on kicking himself for not waiting it out for the contract, but in his defense, when he left there was no light at the end of the tunnel. I agree with the above posts, if you have high sen # then it might be a good move. I've heard that JB is not taking delivery or slowed delivery of some of the 190's? The major board could answer that though.

Would you leave NJA for JetBlue?

Why/ why not?

Thanks

Is this post or pre contract? Many of us were looking at JB. Some of us got the interview and were hired. Some made it to phase II then turned down. Some never made it past phase I. I know of two very well liked NetJets pilots who left in the past year for JB.

To me their is no good answer. Flying is flying. A320 or the X its all the same. Its like in 1967 my Dad got on with United his best friend TWA. Who knows what the correct move is. Ask me in 25 years and I'll let you know.

If you never believe anything I say, believe this:

NEVER PICK AN AIRLINE BASED ON PREDICTED GROWTH!!!!!!

If you want to go to JB, go. But make your decision based on where you would be if they quit hiring with your class. Same with SWA, UPS, F9 or FEX. Hiring can, and has the tendency to, stop on very short notice.

Just my experience.TC

Excellent point AA717Driver. I'd also add that contracts tend to change too. I have had more than one contract changed (concessions) mid agreement that dramitically altered the 'expectations'.

I followed you here from the majors board...do not do it...as i said u have a good stable job and your company is making money and growing...and a great contract...STAY where u are...personally i think JB or any pax carrier is a crapshoot the way the airline pax business is...i hope it gets better but now it blows

This from an arrogant dip flying boxes around. . .

CRJdude, listen to those who've posted that have similar experiences to yours. There's some good information here. Not from this guy, who's clueless about the pros/cons of passenger carrier operations.

The only jobs I'd leave NJA for would be FedEx and UPS. People are always gonna need to ship the Xmas presents to Granny at the last minute.

Thanks for all the great advice.
I've decided I'm happy where I am.I would have never imagined that just 6 months ago.....

The thoughts of going back to commuting and only being home 2-3 days at a time has lost it's appeal to me. Being home every other weekend for 7 straight days is great for the kids and I just can't see giving that up now. Maybe when the kids are older (?)......

I tried to politely decline and I've crossed my fingers they didn't close the door on me forever. I'll revisit the issue in a couple of years.

Again thanks for all the input. Really opened my eyes to see things other than big, shiny Blue airbuses.

That's the right decision in my opinion.
