8vATE,

You really don't get it. I can do anything I want on this board, and I paid for the right. I will continue to comment on anything I want. Please, please, put me on your ignore list. I already ignore what you say anyway---so that would make it easy for both of us. You also NEVER bring anything of substance to any debate here. Please try to come up with something. (although as I said, I will probably ignore it anyway)

True dat! And, I love aviation and this forum.

It looks like the flag officer is starting to get a little testy with his posts. I think we are almost at a tipping point where if a few more kick dirt in his face he'll blow a gasket and auger in right before our cyber eyes. I love the irony in all of this and obviously it couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

Testy? I don't think so. I like this type of debate. What is great is that I can back up my arguments. All you seem to do is throw out insults and pout. Have a great day.

Throw out insults? Now try explaining how you are able to maintain the "moral" high ground on that one son. Since you like to frequently tell people to go back and read what you post to better understand your points, I suggest you do the same and tell me how times you hurled insults at others on this board in the last 24 hours. However, I'm not surprised by your hubris and attitude since it comes with the territory with putzes like yourself. Bottomline general it's all about credibility and right now you have none despite your own biased self-assessment.

You have brought absolutely NOTHING to this board, and that is not an insult. A lot of people need to re-read my posts---that is a fact. As far as insults go--telling someone I think they are wrong is not an insult. I bring facts and back up my claims, you do not. Is that an insult again? Credibility? I don't claim to have all the answers, but I try to back up what I say with something of substance. Feel free to disagree with anything I say, and then back it up yourself. I don't need you to agree with everything I say to make me whole. I give my opinions and try to back them up. Disagree all you want, chief. Have a great one!

That's from my tan last weekend in FLL.

There's the line they enjoy using - - it ain't their fault. Poppycock! There IS an avenue whereby their collective voices can be heard - - they just choose not to avail themselves of that right.

Albie,

You obviously don't know how this works or what we should do now that we ARE calling back furloughs. Our TRAINING facilities are MAXED OUT. Can you understand that? We lost 980 Captains in 12 months.
Many of those Captains were given nice invitations to leave but still keep working, and now you complain that they left? YOU voted for it, GL.

General Lee said:
The greenslip pay was also reduced from double time to time and a half. And, there are limits now to what pilots can fly in a "quarter"---so as to limit major abuse.
It's heartwarming to know that the abuse can now only be minor to moderate.

We don't have a lot of extra money lying around to ... rent other sims.
But there IS money to pay greenslips and Retired Captains.

General Lee said:
Our management initially stated NO RECALLS this year, and Dalpa showed them that we needed some back, and now 125 more will return by mid Summer. Then we added an extra 81 flights a day to ATL alone. So, come up with a better plan.
Better plan: Retire at your own risk, don't retire at your own risk. Recall furloughs according to schedule mandated by courts. Buy sim time if your current facilities are inadequate. No green slips until all furloughees are recalled.

Doesn't Fedex greenslip while guys stay on the FE panel for years? Hmmmmm. Don't do it----and let the FEs (like yourself) move up faster....... (Yeah, I saw your bid---but that wasn't the case 6 months ago)
We call it DRAFT and VOLUNTEER. When the pilot asks to fly extra, it's VOLUNTEER. When the Company calls and asks you to fly extra ("No" is an acceptable answer) it's called DRAFT.

Know what our contract says if there is even ONE SINGLE PILOT furloughed?

NO VOLUNTEER - - ZILCH - - ZIP - - NADA - - NONE - - NONCA (A particular TV commercial comes to mind now - - C. E. NO - - Marco PoLNO :) )

Guess how many we have furloughed right now.

It's unconscionable that you would volunteer to work one extra minute as long as your brethren are on the streets. You have no foundation upon which to preach about this subject.

I agree with the suggestion that the greenslip money be put directly into a fund to benefit the furloughees.

Takin' a guy out to dinner might make you feel good, but it don't pay the light bill.

Atphen,

as far as pay goes at jetblue if you get hired today, you will make slightly more going to the 190. I don't know if I would turn down a line number to wait for a 190 slot. 6 months of hiring there is almost 10% of the line numbers.

my calculations based on 6 years at a company. Pay is from airlinepay.com.

Jetblue 190 track by year - 190 FO, 190 CA, 190 CA, 320 CA, 320 CA

80hr/month - $555,900. 85hr/month - $604,950

jetblue 320 track - 320 FO, 320 FO, 320 FO, 320 CA, 320 CA, 320 CA

80hr/month - $540,600 85hr/month - $588,300

Alaska track (highest I could find) - 6 years 737 FO

80hr/month - $592,320 85hr/month - $629,340

Southwest - 5 years FO, 1 year CA

80hr/month - $574,080 85hr/month - $609,960

Continental - 6 year large narrow body FO

80hr/month - $537,600 85hr/month -$571,200

Delta - 6 year 737FO

80hr/month - $535,680 85hr/month - $569,160

Of course, I can only guess when people will upgrade at the individual airlines. Also, the jetblue pay gets hard to calculate with the bonus pay over 70, but the max capt. pay is approx $150/hr at 12 years. Southwest $182, Alaska $197. Then there is always A plans, B plans, 401k matching, options and profit sharing.

The potential at the companies with widebodies can be much greater or less depending on how long it takes to upgrade.

Needless to say Alaska is in arbitration right now and assume a pay cut (unfortunately) and all of these contracts will be different in 6 years.

My .02.

Just to throw a little levity into this thread, the original groundhog here in Western PA is Phil. Now I hear there's a groundhog in Georgia named "General Lee". Come on buddy, did you see your shadow today? Anyway... the 190 pay is here and it's going to stay. Just like the pay cuts experienced by our fellow pilots, there's no changing until this industry starts turning some serious profits. And if I had an answer on how to do that, well the only flying I'd be doing would be for fun.

Amen

One of many things that disgusts me about our pilot group and MEC. I won't fly 1 minute of OT until Troy Kane is back on the property. The agrument these Green Slippers use is, "The trip is going to get covered regardless...it might as well be me making the $$$." Great mentality. I guess that argument makes them feel justified and placates their troubled heart for not doing the right thing.

As a commuter, me working draft/volunteer is pretty much N/A. I can't work it out very well and the schedulers never call me. I did turn down 2 trips for South America this quarter, and I haven't been called back since.

I understand working overtime keeps companies lean and can be a help, but I hated guys doing it at FedEx when we weren't hiring. Its legal, its in the contract, and all is fair when we aren't furloughing...but I didn't do it. I didn't take the "high ground" or complain when other guys did, but I chose not to...

I'm not trying to make this personal, GL. My only point is complaining about other airlines while you have guys on furlough is poor form...but it is a collective critique, not a personal one.

Post on...

General, have you ever picked up a trip while your fellow pilots at DL are on the furlough list, in the last 3 years? Just curious?

(Let me guess..."What? You don't get it!".

General

Despite my strong Southern Heritage and, therefore, my illogical need to side with the General...I find it unbelievable that a quick look at the GL tote board shows:

To date:

.......................3950 posts.......that's 4+/day....130+/month since GL has trolled these boards

This thread alone (which BTW is a JETBLUE topic):

.........................nearly 25% of all posts are GLs

Sir, I pray that you either:

a) get a life
b) get a girlfriend, or
c) get carpal tunnel

(*numbers are quick calculations....please don't check my work FalconJet!) :)

General....please don't stop posting....that is the wonderful thing about this country is that we are all entitled to an opinion...here on the internet you get opinions for free

most of the time you get what you pay for!!!

anyway, you do bring a wealth of knowledge regarding your company's trends and practices

That is the funniest thing I've read on this board in months!

G.L.

As far as the ignore thing goes, I'm sure there are hundreds of people that would love to do nothing else but ignore you. The problem is, there is no way to ignore you, and all of the people that reply to your constant irritating, drum banging, self righteous babble.

I came into this thread to..... to........ Piss, I can't even remember why I clicked on this thread. Something about a guy that wanted to know what aircraft he would go to if hired at JB. Now it's over 75 post later, and I've seen maybe 5 or 6 post that tried to answer his question.

Your original post was accurate. Spot on. Just like any post that might call you a jerk (toned down) would be accurate. However, these types of post are only meant to inflame the mood of the thread and have no place here.

I say it again so you don't have to post it a 20th time. Your post was accurate. It was also out of place. It did nothing to contribute to the OP's question. Maybe you could start a Blue Bashing thread instead of turning every other thread into one.

Well, back to my quiet life. I've got a few more hours to enjoy my BUF layover.

High of 36 today :)

Hutch
