Does anyone know when the next classes are? If one were to interview this week and get lucky how long would it be to phase 2 completion? What are the % you pass phase 2? Then how long for a class (A320 specifically)? Finally how long for an upgrade to the A320?

Thanks in advance for any info!

Sorry, but cant tell you when the next classes are. If interviewed this week, you would hear if you made it to phase I in a week, you can expect about 6-8 weeks before you hear if you made it through phase II. I see you have mil aircraft listed under ac flown. If you are straight from the military, then it may only take 4-6 weeks since your last 10 years is all in one neat file. It took me 9 weeks to hear but that was almost 2 years ago and they had to shuffle through 3 companies worth of background. % of pass rate through phase II I would say is in the high 90's. Just be up front with them about everything and dont leave anything off and you should be fine if you make it to phase II. As for the 320, well thats a tough one. I was a 320 FO, now 190 CA and there is about 270 people in front of me that have not upgraded for many reasons. Some are senior to me on the 190, in which the fence comes down in a year and most will bid over to the 320 when they can. Others are senior FO's that want QOL and have not bid it or guys that cant quite hold it yet. Then there are those who do mil stuff on the side and make more money and better time off then if they were to upgrade. So, I am looking at 12-18 months before I can hold the 320 and I am in the mid 900's in the company out of roughly 1700 pilots now. I think we are going to be at 1800 at the end of the year. So, as a new hire, there would be about 900 people between you and me and with the combined upgrade of 190 and 320 captains going at (only a guess based on slowdowns) 10-12 per month (both 320 and 190 combined) I would say you are looking at 7 years or so before you would see the left seat of the bus, and 3-5 years before you see the left seat of the 190 if hired today. That does not count people leaving for recalls or if we speed up again and have a quick recovery. Then, I would guess it would be a year less on both guesses. Who knows though, things always change.

Thanks, so at best 6 weeks from the interview through phase 2. Do you know about how long after that till a A320 class?

I am not sure. I know that we still have a bunch in the pool waiting for a 320 class. The numbers though, I am not sure. Maybe someone here in the pool can reply.

skiutah...check your pm's

longhorn-

You lost me after the first sentence.

Holy Cow...Upgrade is 3-5 years on the EMB?

So you leave your RJ captain job for (from airline pilot central) $30-46 an hour, and then you can get the $77 an hour? At least in 7-8 years you can get up to $128 an hour. That would make up for it for a lot of people.

I just worked out the math, my estimates are a captain leaving my airline could expect to lose about 135 thousand switching to JB waiting for upgrade. Then on 190 CA pay they are earning about 5 more per hour then our 50 seat RJ captain.

Well Jim I guess it depends on the RJ company you are with. Since the RJ is flown by Regionals then I suppose if you are perfectly happy at your regional airline then it probably would be fine if you stay there. For others the money is only part of the equation. My previous company sucked at most of the QOL issues. Yeah, I took a hit on the pay but in the far end of things I am much happier here on the Bus back as an FO than being hammered daily as a RJ Captain for ASA.
ASA might not even be here in a year as it is now. Might be all Skywest. Who knows. I was offered a job here and am glad I made the move.

YMMV....

Same situation as ATR-DRIVR.

I am happy I made the move as well for the exact same reasons.

That's assuming nothing ever changes for the better as far as pay at JetBlue. Highly unlikely. However, things improving right now at the regionals looks sketchy, at best. Nothing meant as a cutdown by that either. The tide seems to be turning and the chances of improvements at the regional carriers is starting to become an uphill climb. Just my opinion.

Highly unlikely???? JBLU is now a slow growth LCC. Neeleman will be departing the pattern in a few years with his multi-million dollar parachute, leaving all his junior employees in the dust. The only pay that will change is the top-end CA pay at the expense of new hire pay. 190 pay and upgrade will continue to languish. JMHO.

I don't believe it.
