For those of you who have been through training in MCO, what is the scoop on fitness centers. I know there is a Bally's and a World's close by. Can you get to those easily without a car?? What do they charge if you are not a member? How is the fitness center at the Hotel? I'm just trying to figure out how not to gain 20 lbs like I did the last time I sat through 6 weeks of initial training!

Its gonna be tough to keep the weight off unless you have will power. We are at the Rennaisance and they have a workout room. It has a treadmill, ellyptical, stair climber, and some dumb bells. I haven't looked into the gyms or what they charge. Bally's is kind of far...I'm sure you could jog there or I bet the hotel van would drop you off.

Breakfast is provided free at the hotel between 6:30-11:00. Omelette bar, waffles, buffet...its very good. The bar at the hotel takes great care of us. The beer is very cheap. Speaking of cheap beer...the Ale House has $5 pitchers every day of the week and all kinds of specials. Oh did I mention that Virgin brings a new load of flight attendants in every day at 3:30 for your viewing pleasure??

I've spent more time at the bar than at the gym this first week of training, but I'm guessing that will reverse itself once we start getting into the bulk of the material. The first 10-12 days are no brainer, fill the square kind of days and the instructors encourage us to have a good time and enjoy ourselves for now.

I look forward to meeting you...we'll be in the bar.

Good to hear that some things haven't changed -- now I know where to go on my MCO layovers ... you said 3:30, right?

Without a car going to Ballys and World is going to be hard. There is a city bus that runs up there but I did not check it out. I was able to borrow a classmates car to go on occasion. We were at the Amerisuites at the time and they had a deal to use World for free so I went there most of the time. There is also a JetBlue deal for a 2 week free pass to Ballys if you want to check it out. Ballys is nicer and closer (They have a lap pool and more equipment). A lot of us jogged aound the hotels and the commercial area. One guy brought his bike and there are a lot of areas to bike to. There is actually a regular group of people who park next to the JBU and bike around the airport. There are miles of barely travelled smooth roads great for cycling.

I went to the Marriott, about 3 blocks from the Renaissance, and asked if I could use their gym while in town and they had no problem with it. There are some basketball and tennis courts as well over there. Then on the way home you could stop by Hooters and say hi to the "wings".

I had a 24 hour layover at the layover hotel just a couple of days ago. My FO, one FA and I found ourselves at the Renaissance denting the beer supply. Sometime after 3:30 a large majority of the Virgin crew came into the bar. Sure there were a few dudes, but 7 or 8 or the chicks were smoldering hot lava dripping delicacies that I couldn't take my eyes off. They assembled their lovliness at a table themselves, and after a while my FO sat down with them and started a conversation. Ten minutes later the FA we were with says "watch this" to me...then bolts over to their table and says "OK xxxxx, when you are done messing around with these virgins, you may notice that I am leaving. On your way home pick up some pampers and formula for our little ones!" Then she storms out of the bar. I wish I could describe the look on his face. Pretty funny.

That is some mean azz s..t!:0

Best place to work out is definitely the Ale House. You know, the 12 oz curls and all. The walk to and from takes about 20 minutes so there's your cardio.
