Let's count the sharks in the waters around jetblue......SWPA, ALPA, APA, TEAMSTERS.

Famous JB Pilot's quote..." Yea, I'll sign the Contract, but I'm gonna sign the first union card I get too!"

If you thrive on anger, acrimoney, backstabbing, brown nosing, betrayal and despair, apply now! Only limited employment available!

Obviously you don't fly for JetBlue, what's your point of this thread? Are you trying to encourage us to unionize? If you were a JetBlue pilot you would be privy to the communication process occuring between our pilots and senior leadership currently. I'm not here to change your mind because your opinion is already made, I just think you should keep your inflamatory comments to yourself because you don't know the internal workings of my company.

If you have an application on file with us I suggest you delete it because your attitude isn't the type of one that is fun to fly with. Have a nice day.

Flamebait!!!

We shouldn't waste our time on this....

Im not siding with 2 dogs here, but from what my buddies at JB are telling me is that the snowball has started its downward journey. The last pilot meeting with Bushy and Barger (sp?) was in his words "a waist of time". Dunno if thats what you JB pilots on this board will say, but 2% pay raises per year on the Bus doesn't even cover the cost of living increase of what.... 2.5% to 3.5%. No flame bait here, but sooner or later you gotta put the koolaid down and speak reality or ............you can always become a General :).<--- Sarcasm.... relax...... The sad thing is that even with great human beings like Neelman and Kelleher running the show, things manage to get big enough where they have to depend on others to do the right thing and with the infectious management pukes out there, I really think JB has been infected. ie... Dave Bushy. And don't think Virgin is gonna be any different with Fred "I love RJ" Reid running the show over there....... Then again I have been wrong once or twice in my life........Good luck to you guys....

I was in our weather room last week, and overheard a conversation between a couple of our pilots. The one was a returning furloughee who quit JB to return to CAL. I was a bit surprised to hear what he was saying about the climate over there and how it is changing.

Of course it was only one side of the story and perhaps it was just sour grapes.

He might be upset because he left after two months on the line. He also had to pay his training costs to get out of his no compete clause! :(

I'd be REALLY suprised if the company made him pay for his training after returning to CAL.

What happened? I heard through the grapevine that the person was not held to the non-compete clause and therefore did not have to pay for the training costs.

This reminds me of an interview I had at an ACMI freight operator. Since the company started as an aircraft leasing company, I decided to ask the stupid question of whether the company was committed to having pilots, or might turn back into a leasing company.

The reply from the interviewer was, "We are definitely going to keep our pilots. Well, look: if you think about it, airplanes cost the same for everybody, fuel costs the same for everybody, insurance and maintenance cost the same for everybody, but our crew cost are so much lower than our competitors that it gives us a competitive advantage."

The look on his face at that point told me he regretted saying that. My rejection letter was signed by this guy. Can you guess who he works for now? The name was S. B. (not Santa Claus, but it sounds like it) who is an H.R. exec for jetBlue.

fuel costs the same for everybody.[/QUOTE]

Well...it does unless you hedge your Jet-A against crude, home heating oil, or gasoline futures.

However, if you guess wrong on your futures and can't get out from under your contracts, your Jet-A will cost a lot more than everyone else's Jet-A.

The key word here is returning furloughee... Let me see here, how many JBLU pilots are on the street today? UM, NONE... What was the 2nd quarter's earnings statement at CAL able to mention about the rest of the year's forecast, ah, maybe more furloughing... Hmmm...

Maybe next year's weatheroom comment will be this 2 time furloughee...

Blue B:

Hmm, don't be too snug there Mr. B.B.
JetBlue looks pretty good right now, but unless ya have a pretty accurate crystal ball, and connections upstairs, lay low in the terrain:

Poop could happen to the Cool-Aid folks as well, don't pop the champagne 'till ya turn 60 with a healty multi-million dollar retirement cash-out under yer belt.

Oops, no pension?
Better raise the ticket prices to take care of the employees.
Market won't support it?
Thin margins?

Like Midway Airlines in the past.?
Like Peoples Express in the past.?
Like Tower Air in the past.?

All good strong up-starts with enthused employees sneering at the majors, 'cause the new thing was the budget carrier hauling the masses at post de-reg fares...Heck, them legacy carriers were dinosaurs not able to smell the new trend and the new way of doing business.

J.B. looks pretty slick right now, but be careful, be very careful.......:D

This is written like a song, sounds really good when played to Aerosmith's "Love in an Elevator"

Awfully sensitive there BB for such a simple matter of fact statement. I wonder why? A few cracks in the blue kool aid showing?

I wonder what CAL's earnings would of been if we had an inferior level of compensation and benefits applied towards the entire employee group? And lets not forget to make sure they were all at less than 5 year pay scales.

I've been in this industry a long time pal, I wouldn't take such a smug attitude until you hang the blue suit in the closet at 60.This years industry darlings can quite easily turn into next years turds.

BTW, what is your B scale pay rate going to be for that new jungle jet?
