Pay very close attention to the people you elect. Ignore the glad handing sycophants. Kidnap, convince or strong arm the ones who don't beg for the job, but you know would be good at it. With some exceptions they'll be the ones that stand by you.

Most guys in SWAPA are nut jobs, but remember the only reason that we will merge is so SWA can fire Jeff Martin!!!

Don't vote for someone just bc they are nice. After 3 airlines and all of the years of watching unions give up side letters hoping that Mr. CEO will say, "oh wow thanks guys, here is a big pay raise", I realize that sometimes you need a socially inept person that doesn't get their feelings hurt to deal with management.
