Are they still in business?

Are they still in business?

Yes they are!

Setting the world on fire too!

Jumping in and out of markets, returning/selling planes, canceling the construction of the Orlando training center, stock at 4 bucks and falling, executives leaving to form alter-ego airlines, losing money, pissed off pilots forming union, other airlines adding more and more flights to JFK.....

Impressive. Sounds like a crappy "legacy" airline.

At least the pilots are still picking up trash in the cabin, so People Express Part 2 still has that going for them.

And pulling out of ONT?

Yep. Here it is:
Effective Sept. 3, 2008, we will cease operations at ONT. It was a very hard decision to stop serving ONT as it was the first West Coast destination for our company. However, the TransCon flights are extremely vulnerable to the cost of fuel and fares simply have not risen enough to cover the cost of fuel in our original West Coast market. In addition to JFK-ONT service, we are also ceasing service between BOS-SFO and BOS-SJC at this time.

Further, we are making seasonal reductions in service in the following markets: JFK-SMF and IAD-BUR, IAD-LAS and IAD-SAN.

It doesnt matter what you say Frank, you DS, GFY!

I wish they would "loosen" the 7MIL in my direction.

Ive never herd of "lewsez". Lou says what? Was the title supposed to be "JetBlue's Lou Says $7MIL Will Be Lost In Revenue"?

I have, however, heard of "loses".

I hear their FAs are very loose too!!!

Without your negative spin, your post could have read:

1. Testing markets and pulling out of a few that have underperformed. At the same time moving into market where others have failed.

2. Reducing the growth by deferring some orders, and and terminating leases on those with less favorable terms.

3. Orlando Training Center was completed 2 years ago. Oh ... You mean the housing we were going to build next to the training center. That was a dumb idea to begin with, so I'll give you that one.

4. Stock at $4. Well all I can say to that is SWA is clearly the winner currently, and their stock hoovers around $14. Not a big difference.

5. Not many execs have left. Neeleman was asked to leave due to the limit of his skills running a now somewhat bigger airline.

6. Lost 7m, compared to 2.3 billion at UAL. Still a loss but not uxexpected in this environment.

7. A few pilots are pissed off, but it's the same few who stay pissed their entire career. Clearly we need some CBA type of protections and some QOL and benefit adjustments, but to say the entire pilot group is pissed is wrong.

8. I think most feel pretty fortunate to be here, we just want to improve on what we have, which is doable.

ZERO furloughs scheduled, and we're hoping for no displacements, but no real word on that yet.

CEO and VP of Flt Ops comes to the company picnic in CLT and chats with the troops on any topic. (Invited)

Not claiming be setting the world on fire.

So, bottom line is your post is way off base.

Not drinking the blue juice, but just a little battle worn from 15 years at an ALPA legacy.

Nice try Frank

Who shat in your wheaties?

Actually not bad considering the present environment! Only thing I see here is a mistake in not using the DAL accounting methodology. In which case the results would show a 1Billion profit!:D

Believe it or not, hell congrats on not losing more money.

Sad when you can still feel kinda good about losing money.

3rd Q is traditionally their worst. SYR-FLL reduced to 4 per week starting Sept. Looks like quite a few planes will be parked on the ramp till Thanksgiving, just to save $$$.

Route planners will be busy looking at where to move the chess pieces around as capacity reductions take place around the country. LAX is headed toward a 16% reduction and I also think similar cuts at ORD are in the cards. What the hell good does all that do for competitors if these carriers are allowed to tie up gate space until things turn around. These airports need to enforce usage minimums to elevate their landing fees and other revenue producers or these airports will be in trouble shortly.

Oil cost reductions have sent the stocks through the stratosphere today. Looks like we could have a trading range around $100-120 before Aug 15th if this continues. Some are predicting $80 oil after hurricane season, which will give all the carriers needed cash infusions to maintain for the next few years. Spirit and Frontier will continue to hang by a thread, but they could survive if the economy stays in the tank for a few years, and if other carriers continue to understand domestic capacity reductions are good for everyone.

I think oil will continue to trade in the $80-100 bbl as long as the world economy stays in the tank. Auto Mfgs may have second thoughts about abandoning the high margin SUV/Truck markets in favor of economical small vehicles. This would be a mistake, as once the world economy heats up (3-7 yrs), they will be right back to square one.

Let's hope our politicians get an energy program going quickly. This will be a small window to take advantage of a bridge to energy change until new technologies can be brought online economically. Pickens program definitely has merit, and I like the fact that $$$ will be going to American Companies in lieu of foreign.

:pimp:

I do not understand why pilots on this board cannot comprehend the difference between loose and lose.

Kind of scary is it not?

Add it to the list of:

their, there, and they're

then and than

its and it's

Of course the ever popular butchery of reflexive pronouns. As in:

The crew and myself reported to the gate at duty in time.

I realize we will get jumped for stating this opinion. I realize it is an informal gathering in web forum. However the regression in the ability to communicate in properly written language is just another sign of the decline of civilization.

That someone with more that an 8th grade education could type the word "loose" in that context, and not have it stand out in bright flashing lights as they read it, defies explanation.

How about Der Wienerschnitzel (it's a west coast hot dog chain). Der is the wrong article for schnitzel, but who's counting?

Der would be the proper article if one was referring to a masculine hot dog though.

Uh oh... where are we going with this?? :D

Was wollen wir trinken?
Sieben tage lang.
Was wollen wir trinken?
So ein Durst.

Wir haben kein Bier
Und haben kein Wein.
Was wollen wir trinken?
Hau doch Rein......

Oh, and it's "Shiite", not "$hite".:D

With the national debt headed toward 10 Trillion, I hope you're right and I hope it's not too late.

I can't understand why every pilot has to bring it up!!

In a web board environment, there isn't much to judge a man on. There is the content, and there is the manner in which it is presented. When I see a blatant misspelling such as "JetBlue looses 7.0m," I immediately discount the intellect of the poster, and I don't think that I am alone. I don't see the harm in a little public shame--maybe it will help educate those that were cutting class when they went over basic spelling and grammar.

It's not that Jetblue doesn't need some things, because we do. However everyone here still has and will continue to keep their jobs if they want it. flame away, but I'm still employed B!tches!

WHO THE F ARE YOU PEOPLE? You immediately discount their intellect because of a TYPO? Huh? Never make mistakes, huh? Never type a post quickly on your phone? Or late at night? Drunk? Or at least tipsy? You are a constant beacon of all that is right and just -- a shining example of military precision and both spelling and gramatical excellence?

Okay, so this thread is about JB. I think. But the arrogance is hilarious (and typical of pilots). Get the thread back on track you "loosers".
