It all depends:
1) Upgrade time. 10 mos for E190 vs 3 years for A320
2) $$
3) Flying on east coast-short haul (E190) vs flying Transcon-long haul (A320)
4) $$
5) Did I mention $$?

Personally, I wouldn't mind flying as an F/O in a new company for a few years before I started flying in the left seat. Plus, that side stick on the A320 would be cool to fly, vs the Huffy bike bars on the E190.

What do you think SMLoeffler?

What's everyone thinking about which fleet to choose? 190 or 320?

Leaning toward the 320 myself.

I think that the guys in the first 2-3 classes of new hire f/o's on the 190 will be able to upgrade in the 10mo to 1 yr time frame but after that I expect the upgrades will slow down just like on the 320. Be careful about locking yourself into the right seat of the 190 for 2 years. Make sure you ask how many f/o's on the 190 have been hired before you. (how many classes they have run) Don't expect any of them to bypass an upgrade.

I'm guessing that the #1 f/o on the 190 will upgrade next Aug. With 6-10 upgrades per month it should be easy to figure out when it will be your turn. I don't know for sure how many guys are in each class but I think it's 10.

Hope that helps.

When you say the class is 6, do you mean that 6 people will get the 190, or do you mean the entire class (190 + Airbus) is 6? I know that class will have some Airbus; I am just hoping they put more than 6 people total in that class--yikes!

Last 4 JetBlue A320 Classes :

11-05 16 Pilots
12-05 12 Pilots
13-05 16 Pilots
14-05 16 Pilots

We'll see on the E-190, no schedule posted yet.
FWIW...........

Just got a call for the august 3 class on the bus! They are still waiting on the fingerprint results, and the training records from my current employer, but they want to start me anyway. I hope I see a lot of the cool people I met at the interview in a few weeks down in orlando. Thanks to all who answered questions for me while I was going through the whole process.

Countryflyer(hopefully, soon to be Jetblueflyer)

CF,

Congrats and welcome aboard.

The 190 class will be 6 current airbus f/o's that are going to be captain on the 190 & 6 new hires that are going to be f/o's on the 190. so a total class size of 12 at this point in time.

Just recieved a call from JetBlue!!! Yep that's right it has been over 9 weeks. The hold up was with a previous carrier though. Gonna be flyin' a 'bus soon!!! :D
