JetBlue E190 Status

Although I am not a fan of the relatively low E190 pay rates, I am curious about a few things:

1. Has JetBlue started hiring onto the E190 - are specific classes set up for newhires? Are newhires being offered a choice? If not, when will the first newhire E190 classes likely start?

2. For current JetBlue pilots, has there been considerable interest from current FOs bidding for Captain slots? Any Airbus Captains bid down to the E190?

3. When will the E190 actually commence service for JetBlue - August?

4. Lastly, how many E190s are expected to be on the line by year end 2005?

1.) New hires will be offered 320 or 190 or first available. First 190 class in August. Locked on type for two years, so 190 FO's will have upgrade potential on 190 (probably about 1 year) and 320 FO's will have to wait til 320 upgrade available (approx 3 years for new hires).

2.) Hard to say - Bid opens in a few days.

3.) October is scheduled

4.) 7 in 2005, 22 in 2006.

it will be interesting to see how the bid turns out:


the BIG question....do you bid it and hold out for a pay rate adjustment like the airbus got post 9-11?

OR

bypass...then a year down the road the pay gets adjusted and you can't bid it now.

it could....just could be a winfall for newhires that get the FO slot on the 190 and upgrade 10-11 months down the road! but then again if fuel is sky high...maybe not
