So what happened? Continental seems to be winning the turf battle.

Marty

Looks like the direct flight from EWR-SJU goes away but, you can still fly there from Newark through a connection in Orlando.

We dropped the run because we got tired of them Mexicans loadin' up the belly with VCR's and bringin' their chickens on board in pet carriers.

Oh my....

Fist Fights in the aisles...

Maybe JB decides to let CAL deal with the hostile crowds to PR after our air return due to a fight between some 'Rican ladies...

I wouldn't put too much weight to the whole EWR scene for you CAL fans.
From day one Neeleman/Barger had said it would be a very limited market.

The ground delay program has taken its toll on us too....

And for you all following the route structure... the TPA flights that were dropped during the summer are back.

Lots of rumors of further MAJOR route changes are in the wind....

Stay tuned...

Nothing personal against any Jetblue folks, we just want to see you get the hell out of EWR. I think most of the animosity that CAL folks have is not directed at Jetblue as a company but at Jetblue managements' arrogance to think they could simply come in to EWR and we would just sit idly by and do nothing. I really think that if Jetblue would have stayed out of EWR, most people wouldn't think twice about Jetblue in the New York area.

With all due respect, isn't that called competetion? I bet most airlines wish competitors would stay out of thier markets. I believe CAL has a good product, but if given the choice between flying B6 and CAL on the same route for the same price, I would certainly chose B6. I am guessing I am not the only one. I don't think B6 management thought CAL would sit "idly by" as they came in to CAL turf, but Dave and Dave believe in their product and are willing to take on some healthy competition. The fares are now lower on those markets, and it is a direct result of having B6 in EWR.

Why on earth would you have animosity against either group or any airline for that matter, even if it serves EWR, heck, most US airlines serves EWR, you have animosity towards them, how about all the international carriers?

It was a business decision, maybe not one you wanted, but then again, maybe CAL should remove all flights from JFK, you know it might upset DAL and AA, that CAL operates a few flights in JFK.

Get a life guys & gals. Pilots should not have any animosity towards other pilots. Management makes the decisions.

I don't recall the last time Larry called me to see where CAL should serve next!!

What is your reference for this drop of service?

BTW... the loads on this trip stunk! CAL can have it...besides the plane's will smell better.

It's about the same lesson learned going into Atlanta vs. Delta. The hub carrier drops their prices too low to make a profit. JB is hopefully in the business of making money, thus they leave that market. Many New Yorkers were driving to EWR for the lower fares instead of flying out of JFK. Certain routes still make money, ie EWR-MCO. You can still goto SJU via EWR-MCO.

Delta didn't chase JetBlue out of ATL, AirTran did.
AirTran leased some 737's and matched JetBlue's flights, prices etc.
Overnight the route had almost double the seats to the west coast.
That caught JB by surprise and Dave and Dave still comment on how well the counter plan AirTran made to protect their turf.

If Delta did so well against JB, why did Song dissolve back into Delta?

Anyway JB drops EWR-SJU, MCO-BUR-LAS and uses the plane for ORD -JFK.
Rumor has it at 8 flights a day at airliners.net

I think it was 320's, not 737's that AirTran leased. If AirTran hadn't made that move, I think JetBlue would still be flying 2-3 flights a day out of Atlanta and we'd all be losing money on the route.
