JetBlue's new airport, BUR. I wonder if this will work for them?

I think that was a smart move. And that is a good question about the range of an A320. I don't know the answer. Delta just started a 757 from ATL to BUR, but I think the 757 has better performance.

Bye Bye--General Lee

I'm surprised SWA hadn't developed transcons from BUR. If my recollection is correct, I believe Aloha ran a 737 from there not too long ago to the Islands, so it shouldn't be a problem for the NG traveling East.

I guess going East the 320 shouldn't need to top off(see I've learned my wind lessons:) ). That should lighten the load a bit.

Unless you want to make money.

Notice Aloha isn't doing that anymore?

Just taking a very quick look at the B757 perf data it would appear that 210,000 is just about max weight with flaps 15. Don't have the flaps 20 data at my finger tips but it might give you a little bit more lift. The B757 is an incredible performer so it should do pretty good. I wonder if they will operate the APU for the benefit of pax comfort or just let them suffer in the back?

Hahahhahah. You really were "spooked" by that. Man, let it go and next time please inform somebody. You are right about one thing, the 757 is a great performer.

Hey General Lee,

In 1980 DAL operated out of what field in Orlando? Is was not MCO, yet, right? If no, is that field still around?

Thanks

I am not the General but I am a native of Orlando and I rode my first airplane flight from MCO in 1963 on a EAL B727 Whisperjet. At that time, DL and EAL were the only two airlines operating from there as far as I know. It was called McCoy Airport, and was joint use with the USAF. Then it was renamed McCoy Jetport, and then Orlando Int'l shortly there after. I believe that the airbase (McCoy AFB) shut down in the late 70's. The original passenger terminal in the 60's was a corrugated metal hut (open air no less) which has since been rebuilt into a cargo terminal now that UPS uses (and I think FedEx has moved in there as well).

To my knowledge, DL has never operated out of any other airport in Orlando other than MCO. The ORL airport (used to be Herndon, now Orlando Exec) wouldn't support large jet traffic and Sanford is a big airport, but is/was far removed from Disney, Int'l Drive Convention area, and the business district.

Hope that helped.

General? More to add??

C yaaa

Finally got to my Boeing Laptop Tool (BLT). With flaps 20 you can lift about 220,000 pounds out of RWY15 on a standard day. That darn good! And that's without the APU running for the General.

I was still popping zits on my funny face back in 1980, so I really don't know. I was brought up in the NE, with only limited Florida experience in my teens. You know, when Daytona Beach was the "real" Spring break.....

I can't answer that question, sorry.

No kidding the 757 has better performance!!!
In my checkered past, I sat in the right seat of the 757 for a little more than 2900 hours.
If a 757 can't do it, performance-wise, NO airplane can!
If only they could combine the 'Bus stuff and Boeing stuff... What a machine that would be!
Oh, yeah! And make it land like a Taylorcraft!!!

Thanks.... I was wondering if it was the same field. My first flight ever was on Delta from DTW - MCO ( I guess). I was 9 and I snaped a bunch of pictures of the airplanes, terminal and runways... I always wondered if it was the same field. It sure looks different today.

Just curious about how long is the runway at BUR

15/33 is 6886' and 8/26 is 5801'...unless you are a specific crew from an unnamed airline that tried to extend 8 a few more feet...

Apologies to all the OTHER pilots of said airline...

HMM

You can bet that the 3 broads that worked that flight are still working at Delta today. Makes a whole new meaning to going on an airplane to see Grandma, she's working it.

Dennis used to be funny, now he is just ranting! I mean the real one, not the one on here.
