Oh in the words of Axel Rose................

Welcome to the jungle
It gets worse here everyday
Ya learn ta live like an animal
In the jungle where we play
If you got a hunger for what you see
You'll take it eventually
You can have anything you want
But you better not take it from me

ORD is code for "gate holds in effect for". Congrats anyway, hope it works out for you.

I can't believe that you actually wrote that all out, just to make a point? Thanks for the support, I would rather go into UAL and AA backyard then get the LUV over at MDW. 4 flights a day isn't much, but neither was JBLU's first of now over 100 aircraft. It's like that rash I got, starts small but then it just breaks out and next thing you know your going into the hospi... oh... sorry, I might have said a little too much? :(

What's the difference in "initiate service" and "commence flight operations"?

Service in two weeks, and flight ops 90 days later?

Tell me that's not a government way of talking!

Yeah it will be a new experience for JetBlue. There are never delays or gate holds in LGA,BOS,JFK, and especially not EWR.

Wasn't someone on another thread saying something like, "it'll never happen" or words to that effect.

HA FREAKIN' HA!

Ever flown out of ORD? Didn't think so. Lighten up, I'm not raggin JB, just don't think ORD is worth the hassle. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. (It was about 4 hours late)

Based there for six years. Are you making this statement from a pilots point of view or do you have hard revenue data? Didn't think so.

ORD? That's Orlando right? Oh yeah I've been there many times. I love that Mickey Mouse, he's quite the card. Oh and Goofy love him too. My favorite Disney movie is The Incredibles.

Sorry about that, I just love Disney and that convenient ORD airport. Oh and I've been to O'Hare too. That's in Chicago isn't it?

Don't panic.....Jetblue will be over soon...5 years tops

I did 4 legs a day out of ORD for the better part of 5 years. I always enjoyed ORD. Even when it goes to hell in a handbasket, there is at least an obvious reason and its easy to tell what the controllers are trying to accomplish.

ORD has the best controllers in the world and I'm looking forward to working with them again.

I think we have to begin buliding our operation there "initiate service", by the end of Oct, and fly out the first Revenue flight "commence flight ops" by the end of Jan.

ORD is a tough place to operate out of, but so is PHL, LGA and JFK. The bottom line is: There are a lot of people there and a lotof $$$$$$$$$$$, which make each delay worth every minute.

So I have a job for five more years? Awesome. I am gonna give an extra special PA tomorrow announcing just that.

We've been hearing that from day one. Can you qualify your statement, or is it just cool to say that in public ?

As long as we always have 5 more years, I'm happy. Actually I think JetBlue is over the new carrier hump already. As long as we don't make any stupid decisions like buying big airplanes, painting them Blue and White and flying over seas, we'll be OK.

The main reason I know we'll be OK is that just about every customer that gets off the plane is happy, and I quite often hear " I love JetBlue, and I'll never fly another airline again, if I have a choice".

You can repair financial reports, but it's hard to get the customers back once they turn on you.

That's what they say. What they do in reality is a big difference.

If it is their company that is buying the tickets, the company will buy the lowest ticket price no questions asked.

9 out of 10 times the consumer will also go with the lowest price. Fair or not, the customer will compare/equate the extra $30, $40, or $50 of the higher fare to a paid dinner out (or some other vacation activity), and then opt for the lower fare carrier.

Sure you survived the first 5 years, but you had some extraordinary circumstaces helping out your cause. I'll take your bet. 5 more years tops.

Sincerely,

Your bestest pal - Frank

Most of our customers are leisure travelers, and make their own decisions. Very few breif cases, and many car seats. Again, I've not heard anyone that can back up those statements as to why we will last only 5 more years. ------------- Well?? ------------

We'll be around for alteast another five years simply because we are supposed to have 900 million dollars in the bank by the end of the year. Losing our usual 40 million per we have atleast 5 years. Throw in our consistently bad management descisions, fuel hedging mishaps and the upcoming payments on the new terminal and we could be at 5 years.

I truly love my job and I don't wish to work elsewhere but management isnt instilling confidence either.

The good news Lake is that you have 5 years to come up with plan B. How many folks in ANY industry get that much heads up, let alone aviation!?

If the delays at ORD were any big deal....AA and UAL wouldn't be so quick to keep adding flights there whenever they can.....and the overriding reason is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Uhh, adding flights? The FAA FORCED AA and UAL to cut flights. To much congestion, but obviously not enough to grant for flights to a new entry carrier.

Yes you really show your support by spouting slander. Happy you love your job. Maybe you can nominate yourself for management.

Please take the recall of go back to wal mart so I can more up on the list and contiinue to be a part of the solution and not the problem

Ok, on the brighter side, I believe we will be flying those four flights a day to Long Beach, CA-- just a rumor I heard. Flights to Florida against TED is not going to be profitable and the shuttles to NYC are a better bet on AA and UAUA.

Your note that you carry almost all leisure travelers does not bode well for meaningful revenues. As I mentioned previously, Joe 6-pack will spend a couple of hours shopping on the internet for the lowest fare. Saving $100-200 bucks on the family trip is a big deal. That pays for a rental car, or hotel, or meals etc..

Here are Frank's top 10 reasons you are doomed:

1. You are still expanding too fast. Your high yield markets are drying up fast if not already gone. Moves like going into ORD look like desperation. You really believe you are going to make money on that route? Which leads to #2.

2. The legacies are making money. The next year or two forcasts them making A LOT of money. Any guesses how they will price their routes where you compete with them? They are going to absolutely hammer you guys. You losing ONLY $40M a year will soon look like a good year.

3. Costs (wages, benefits, maintenance, training associated with a mixed fleet etc.) are only going to go up. Not exponentially, but enough to cause serious balance sheet anxiety.

4. Unions will arrive on property. Costs go up further. Worker discontent. Service deterioration.

5. Recalls at the legacies will cause a surge in training costs. There is also a very real potential for serious operational disruption if a sizable number of furloughees leave at the same time.

6. The legacies will start pouring more and more money into the "service" portion of their operation (returning meals and other amenities to their aircraft). This will further blur the lines of who has the best service.

7. No meaningful frequent flyer program. Can I go to Europe or Hawaii on JBLU?

8. No code share partner to offer more destinations and pick up the higher yielding business traveler.

9. Your supposed "money in the bank" may be less than you thought. As a witness to history, you have seen how long it takes an airline to blow through an enormous sum of cash. Even $900M may not last long at all.

10. Your management team is inexperienced for the size of operation you have. It is already cracking under pressure and succumbing to making rash, knee-jerk, reactionary, and desperate moves.

BONUS! #11. Grossly underpaid executives! (Couldn't help myself) ;)

You forgot #12, with only 5 years left for Jetblue, we will only be rated #1 only five more times, pitty...

I think you meant to write PITY as "pitty" isn't a word.

Being rated #1 doesn't mean a thing if the company isn't making money.
