got a question,

I've wanted to get on with JetBlue ever since they started flying to my hometown back in winter 2001.... Problem is I was on the Beech which didn't meet their weight requirement..I've since moved on to a different company and the CRJ, but upgrade is still a fairly distant thought and I've been here 2 years.. (also have no PIC time from the Beech which is killing me now!)...

I've had the pleasure of meeting both Neelman(sp.?), and I believe his name was Dean, at a FA graduation back in Sept. 2001..(It's an ex-girlfriend thing) Unlike alot of people who are just looking for job(understandibly), I've known about the company since it got off the ground and met alot of really nice people through the ex so I know it is where I want to be when I hopefully move on.

My question is if the EMB-190 gets on the property sometime soon, do you all see the same hiring requirements ie: Turbine PIC time. As there is with the Airbus. Or is there a chance that it may be somewhat relaxed? I'm not implying that it may go down to regional type requirements but is there a chance that a guy with 4-5 years of Part 121 experience could get on with no 121PIC time?

Sleeve,

This has actually been addressed on several, other threads. Do a search and you can see a much more detailed discussion. However, the answer to your question is no. No lowering of mins.

With the abundance of overqualified applicants we already have on file, no reason to lower the mins. It'll be one pilot group, one seniority list.

Again, do a search and check out the other threads. Sorry this isn't more encouraging, but it's the reality of the business. We're hiring guys who've been furloughed from US Air with 15 years of heavy metal flying to regional guys with 10 years as a captain.

Happy landings

The pilots from..

MidAtlantic are a hot commodity to JetBlue and the EMB-190 program.

Furloughed U pilots that are at MDA are all typed in the EMB-170. Same type as the 190.

There have been a number of pilots that have been typed at MidAtlantic then hired at JetBlue.

?Question?

I don't want to get too far off topic,

Is the Embraer 37/44/50 seat the same type as the
70 and 90 seat?

Just Curious

On the other hand...

I spent 2 years as a CRJ captain, and less than a year as a major airline FO. Of course I kept my currency flying corporate after my furlough, but I hired on last year with 6000 TT and only about 1400 PIC in A/C over 20,000 #'s. I feel very lucky. :)

The mins aren't going to change, but once you upgrade, that magic number comes quickly. It can be done Sleeve, just keep plugging away.

Zonker,

Aha, you're the one who slipped through on the interview then!
:D

Did I mention we accept bonds insured by the Vatican as entry?

Happy landings

MDA has 8 or

so EMB-170 check airman in the hiring process at JetBlue. There are 25 check airman at MDA.

Mechanics are leaving shortly after finishing school also.

Employees at MDA are calling their program a testing/training program for JetBlue's 190's since so many pilots and mechanics are leaving.

Thanks, I gotcha now. What "stage" of the hiring process are these folks in? Just curious. Seems like 8 or so is a lot for one hiring session but it sure is possible.
