Just read the write-up on that. Steep approach with too much speed into a 5800' runway? Couple that with a full load of pax, and probably more fuel than they needed coming from LAS. Tough landing for any experienced pilot.

No, it really isn't that bad if you are on speed and on glide slope. Shorter runways do require a little more attention on takeoff and landing, though. SNA has a 5700 ft runway and Fedex flies an A310 in there, no problem.

I wish Airtran would start announcing more West Coast service. SEA would be great!

Give it a few weeks until we announce the next city....

I couldn't agree with you more meanstreak especially since I'm commuting from there offline right now. But seriously, I'd love to see AirTran build up it's West coast presence. Placing our next "hub" or focus city in someplace like Salt Lake or the Bay Area would seem like it might be a great strategic move. I read somewhere recently that AirTran serves 16 of the top 20 travel markets in the US. The four that it doesn't serve are Seattle, San Diego, Phoenix, and St Louis. Three of the four are out west.

Hey NTS ALL 4, most of those 'trailer trash customers' you refer to are good old AMERICANs. Providing opportunity for all Americans to fly is what productivity and efficiency is all about. I’ve spent go good part of my life along with countless other US Military personnel defending our way of life. "Freedom" to travel across this great land is now more affordable and I'm proud to provide ALL AMERICANS that opportunity.

This post is best read with your stereo softly playing "Battle hymn of the Republic" in the background for maximum effect.

I think a prudent pilot would have performed a little maneuver called a "missed approach" or "go-around".

Cheers!

That's why they will only book the red-eye to no more than 100 pax, so they can pull 10-15 pax each off the previous 3 flts.

Is it true they are installing a catapulte hook on the 320's?

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I didn't think takeoffs were authorized to the East (rwy 08) in any a/c over 12,500lbs. It will definately be a challenge when the Santa Ana winds blow.
