As I understand it, for every interview group, there will be a percentage chosen via the Blue Dart Program. Prior to the selection of interviewees, an appropriate number of JB pilots will be randomly selected to offer up their Blue Dartee. The applicant still has to meet the minimum standards and must pass the same interview and hiring board. Or, simply put, it just moves you to the top of the candidate pile. If a JB pilot is selected to use his Blue Dart, he has up to a year to use it - in case of the applicant not being able to interview due to various circumstances.

I've already seen most the guys I would personally recommend get on with JB - with the exception of my best man, who is short on the PIC hours. So, if I get called, watch EBay.....(kidding of course...what's a Blue Dart worth, anyway?) Until my man gets a little more time, I'll have to pass on using my Blue Dart.

When does the Blue Dart Program go into effect?
In time for the Nov or Dec interviews?

Thanks and Fly Safe
Chuck

There are no scheduled interviews for Nov or Dec as of now. We usually interview every other month. Since we aren't interviewing for Nov and Dec, we compensated by interviewing in Oct. Sep was a regular scheduled interview month.

Sep interviews were primarily for Jan/Feb class dates. We actually had some start early in the Oct class (since their background check was easy to confirm and process).

Oct interviews are also for the Jan/Feb classes.

We haven't yet been given definitive start dates on the Blue dart program.

Hope that helps. Happy landings.

Blue Dart

We were told several weeks ago that the program would likely begin next year. 100 randomly chosen crewmembers would be selected during the year to use their "blue dart". Last numbers I heard were 240 (give or take) newhires next year, more the following year with the addition of the E190. JetBlue interviews somewhere between 400-500 over the course of a year, so roughly 20-25% of Phase 1 interviews may (emphasize MAY) come from "blue dart" recommendations, but nothing has been finalized.

The program is a great avenue to look at quality individuals who may/may not have the "competitive" hours to get selected by the computer for Phase 1. Hopefully this will open the door to many 'Blue hopefuls.

Good Luck!

Red :)

How about $9999?

It's a little more than a type for a SWA interview but perhaps just as valuable!

Could somebody please explain what a "Blue Dart" is? If this has already been discussed, a link would be sincerely appreciated. As my profile indicates, I am still quite a number of hours short of going anywhere, but I like to watch JB very closely anyways. Thanks!

See the second post in this thread. It explains it quite well.

Are the "blue darts" resticted to pilots only or can a Blue mechanic use a "blue dart" too reccomend a pilot?

As far as I know, it is for the Pilots only.

BLUE DART (snicker....snicker ):D

Thats the kind of label that could give a guy a complex later in life! I'm willing to do a lot of things for a job but having somebody hold me up to their arse and light a match is pushing it a little too far.;)

Mentoring

One of the other things about the Blue Dart program is that the sponsor is supposed to take personal interest in mentoring their candidate, if hired. Basically, you are putting your reputation on the line with your candidate, so you are expected to do everything you can to ensure their success in training, IOE, and on the line.

Holy Smokes,

I think whomever told you that has liked you in that "special" way looooooong before now. And no, I highly doubt they'd respect you in the morning! :p
