Will ya'll hire us commuter trash to fly them? : )

There's a case of beer for you if you will...

Well, since they're not "RJ's" I don't think they'll be hiring 'Commuter Trash' to fly them. The EMB-190 is no more an RJ than a DC-9, 717, A-318, etc. Just because Embraer manufactures them doesn't meen JBLU is going to drop their hiring mins to 1000 and 100.

I wish we would do more hiring from the regional ranks. I was with Allegheny for 12 years. I was one of 3 prop guys in my class Jan 2002. There have not been many prop guys through since then. Let alone "commuter" guys. Kind of funny when you think of the days I used to fly, the days that you still fly. Lots of experience in many different airports. Lots of wx experience too.

Unfortunately, I have heard that the mins will still stay as they are since the upgrade in the 190 will be very fast the first year or so. I will take you up on the beer though if we can get more regional guys in....

I would *love* to work for JetBlue and have lots of turbine PIC Part 121 experience (all turboprop) but I continue to hear from jumpseating JB guys that without true jet time I am spinning my wheels. How true is this and may I ask what the logic is (if you have heard through the rumor mill). Does it have more to do with experience flying full glass or the jet speeds etc.?

Thanks!

It's not so much the hiring mins that I'm concerned about, but the 20,000 pound requirement. Any ideas if that will change for the EMB-190?

Just hopeful. :-)

Hey, look at it this way... If the "standard pax weight" and the "standard bag weight" has had as much of a real-world increase as it appears it might, not to mention the "weightless" bags in the 1900 closet, it's very likely you have PLENTY of time in a 20,000lb+ airplane already.

:D

Heh.... you're not kidding! I'm having to exercise my paltry math skills a lot more these days to get everybody on board.

I don't know if the weight requirement will go away or not. I do know that JetBlue won't have different hiring requirements for the 320 and the 190, as there won't be separate pilot groups. JetBlue will simply hire JetBlue pilots, period. They won't be assigned to either fleet until they've had a chance to bid.
