The unions will be coming for the FA's before ours does as soon as the brain childs start yanking out the a row of seats to get around having to paying 4 flight attendants instead of 3.

Our adjusted delivery schedule is just an example of poor management. Can't make money, sell aircraft or defer deliveries. Still can't make money, take away benefits. Still can't make money take a crew member of an airplane and remove some seats.

I thought the world of B6 when I first started but those days are long gone and my eyes are wide open.

Hey dude, I have a Hawker job you can have. If you don't like it, just get out of my way!

FA "scope"? Don't count on it.

And how exactly is their FA union going to force the company to reinstall those 6 seats and reinstate those FA positions? That's a management decision, always has been, always will be. No union will ever be able to controll that. If it could then let's unionize and bring back an FE and a Navigator like the good old days. We'd double our seniority overnight!

Besides I doubt any serious consideration of removing a row delt primarily with one $20/hr employee (even with benefits) as much as it would deal with legroom, weight/balance (especially with our lower yield/higher revenue structure we hopefully are driving towards) and possibly *please* a small business class. We lose so much potential revenue by not having a small business/first section I bet its staggering. Especially as we're considering international code shares, not too many people pay 3-6 grand (or more) to lay flat for 8 hours then connect to a middle seat coach product (however nice it may be) maybe up to BUF they wouldn't care, but not on a transcon for sure.

I share your concern on the reduction of airframe growth. By the same token, we're still growing fairly quickly by any reasonable measure even after the growth cuts. There is a balance between needing to grow to keep costs down while generating new sources of revenue or growing too fast for the cost savings and new revenue to keep up with the rapid onset of additional debt and infrastructure issues associated with trying to double every couple years. I'll be the first to admit I'm not expert enough on the subject to say with confidence exactly where that balance is.

Senior leadership is still talking about a big 2007 (not just hypotheticaly but explaining how) so if this is what needs to be done to get back on track, as dissapointing as less growh is to our seniority sensitive segment of the industry, I can't say with absolute certainty its not what we need to be doing.

If we did keep taking our full delivery schedule, we'd have to throw them into markets wether we're ready or not, and build hubs out of the blue (pun?) and pray they worked out right away. Not sure if that gamble is better than a more moderated and controlled rate of growth right now or not. We shall see.

There is no way a FA union could force management to put those seat back in. I believe out of anger the FA's will organize. Thats what I meant by my post. Next, according to some of the mainte folks today the seats ARE coming out. The reason this angers me so is because our management can't seem to properly run an airline and make money by charging reasonable fairs. What does management do then? Lets see, we sell aircraft and remove seats in order to carry one less flight attendant. In the end we cut some corners to get by. I do not agree with it at all. Is B6 a nice place to work, sure it is. Is it a career, no, and they are quickly turning into more of a regional mentality than a major airline.
As far as the growth goes it is good that we continue to expand. The bad part is we continue to grow the company on the backs of the employees without increasing compensation while deteriorating benefits. Growth is good for the company but not the employees if they are not rewarded. This idea of management doing the right thing by giving 190 fo's a "bonus" does very little for my warm and fuzzy monitor since they should have paid proper rates from the beginning. In essence the company says we will will pay you regional wages but we will give you a 3 grand bonus around xmas to shut you up. Again, not what I signed up for or what I have been fed by D&D since the beginning.
These are facts and the truth hurts. You come into something believing very strongly and reality sets in. We are all seeing it just some refuse to acknowledge it. We are no different from other companies and thats the part that sucks the most.
