Hi,

Screening call to invitation for interview

I didn't receive the screening call, but what I have heard it's around a couple of weeks.

interview till notification of phase 2

Dean Melonas does a really great job of sending out a email within 3 days after the interview to let you know that you made it to phase 2. You receive a letter in the mail within a week if you didn't make it on to phase 2 .

phase 2 till notification of class date

This all depends on your background check. For me it was around 5 weeks after I was notifed of making it to phase 2.
Again, Dean knows that you are going nuts waiting to hear. He makes the phone calls as soon as your info is cleared by the PHC(Pilot hiring commitee). I got my call at 19:45 in the middle of the week. If you are not selected, than you receive the dear John letter via DHL.

class date notification to class start

It is pretty quick. I was called towards the end of Feb for a Mar 17 class date. They usually give you enough time to put in a 2 week notice at your current employer.

training schedule to IOE

Training lasts for 6 weeks in MIA. After that, you spend a few days in NY followed by IOE.

Training Pay

Pay is $2500 a month while in training

I hope I helped you out.

Have a great day!

Just a couple of items to add:

Recognize the PHC doesn't necessarily get to all Phase 1 interviews at the same time. It's not uncommon to get the "going to Phase 2" call as much as a week from the interview. This in itself has been much fodder for anxiety (and subsequent posts on this forum). It's a tough wait.

We tell you during your interview to expect the background check to be a full 8 weeks. Military guys usually get through quickly (since there are specific training records we won't be able to access). Additionally, any civilian pilot with only 1 job to run a background on, gets through quickly as well.

Your training pay immediately reverts to hourly wage when the owl (senior dude in class) finishes their IOE. I had a 2 week wait for my IOE after initial and upgrade to captain. I sat at home making reserve guarantee since the owl was first to get checked out.

If you run a search on this forum, most of these issues have been covered before or there is additional info you might not have considered asking as well.

Hope this helps and happy landings

jointops....actually I think this has changed....now everyone reverts to line pay the day after orientation vs waiting for the IOE to finish......of course I've been wrong before, right DM?!? :)

My personal experience:
1. 5 days (notified by phone)
2. 2 days (notified by email)
3. Still waiting on the outcome of phase 2. Hopefully by the end of April or early May. I was notified last week that my background check was complete.-Not whether I passed/failed, just that my file was wrapped up.

Just started training (what a company!!!) Actually they did tell us that line pay starts (prorated for the month of course) when you start IOE
Could be wrong though, I was still trying to figure out how to start up my NEW LAPTOP! NO Really, what a cool place!!!!

good luck to all waiting

Thanks everyone for the imput. I now have a much better idea of the time line.........
It looks like the process is speeding up due to increased hiring.

Update to my previous post.

#3. Interviewed 10 March and got the call 11 April w/the offer of a class date (32 days).

#4. Offered the first class in May (24 days from yesterday) but deferred until mid June for various reasons.

Can't wait to start!!

Please don't freak out

For all of those who did NOT get called on Easter...

Please remember that all class invitations don't go out at once. Often, the first to complete the background checks are the first to get called. This sometimes means the military guys are done first.

Joint Ops, DGS, or others may be able to shed additional light on the subject. However, I want to emphasize...don't call and bug Dean or anyone and just hang tough. All the good news from NYC doesn't go out in just one wave.

Way to go Mecury! I know you must be psyched. Got a call from another happy guy who will be rolling in 5 May.
