Those other airlines have too much critical mass and political clout to go under. Too many vendors are owed and too many employees would be on unemployment and no longer contributing to the state's coffers. Too many lucrative routes (international). I would be very surprised not to see a merger of those other airlines.
The demise of small fry like B6 and Frontier would be insignificant. And yes they are fighting for survival, whether you like it or not. So it is in their interest to merge.

Are you kidding me? Let's see...Eastern, PanAm, TWA...do I need to go on?

I'm certainly glad analysts are always right. Throw whatever daggers you want out there, but I believe every airline (ummm...Northwest?) is eligible for a possible bankruptcy and eventual extinction. All airlines are "fighting for their survival" (except SWA, of course). Why single out F9 and JetBlue? We are not worthy of your amazing insight into the industry. No Koolaid here.

Wow! You guys are quick to jump on someone who isn't as blindly optimistic as you, and slow to do any research of your own. If you don't understand something, don't call the poster an idiot, just ask.

Frontier Airlines is the only airline on Holly Hegemen's "Titanic Watch." Its a great airline, yet whether or not you agree with her, the point remains, there is a lot of pessimissim in this industry about Frontier. They can't seem to make it out of Denver, and now that Southwest is there, their business plan of being the only provider of low-cost United-alternative service out of Denver is shot. They now have to compete. LAX was a disaster/joke. They couldn't muscle their way into that market years ago, and they're not going to be able to do it on the LAX-SFO route this year. They need a way out of Denver, and the low-yield "Flip to Mexico" routes aren't going to do it.

jetBlue is starting to feel the effects of aging. JFK is no longer the underutilized airport it used to be, and jetBlue's operational performance is paying for that. The luster of being the "cool" airline to the passengers is wearing off as other airlines add entertainment systems. Employee seniority (wages) are going up, and more aircraft are being delivered in bulk to try to keep costs down (both aircraft and labor). I feel for the revenue management department.

Basically jetBlue needs a way out of JFK, and Frontier needs a way out of Denver.

Yes, these are my opinions, but they're the opinions of quite a few analysts as well. I love Frontier as a company, but that doesn't change reality.

Holly, despite of her years of experience has been in favor of Titanic Watch lists.. Let's see who she put to the list recently? Midwest, USAirways and United.. Well among all these airlines she was only correct on Vanguard which even a high school kid knew it was on trouble..

I can see a code-share agreement benefiting both companies, but a merger would not be that fruitful..

Exactly what is wrong with this board

Yet another merger thread that quickly spirals into a personal attack. Will these airlines merge, who knows. I do know that trying to apply logic to any airline equation is usually a step in the wrong direction. For anyone interested in learing about jetblue or frontier or any other airline for that matter I recommend searching other (professional) pilot forums. This one is not what it used to be.

Well folks it looks like :uzi:roadrunnerblue is someone who got hold of an existing user name without paying his $$ and is going to town. Been a member since 2004 and feels the need to go so nuts over this thread that about a third of his total posts are on it. Me thinks me smells a fraud.

Aint the internet great! Oh well.

The best rumor I've heard is that UAUA will buy us. Its the reason they relented, and gave us the A gates. They will get them back after they buy us.

Makes almost as much sense as this thread:rolleyes:

Not going nuts at all boys, just responding professionally to a thread that was not started by me. Now if I receive a personal attack saying that I am a dumba$$ for opining then you bet you are going to get a response.

Fact remains that anyone who so much as slightly questions how great JBU is will get flamed or shot down by their cult members.

I am sure your managers will do the right thing and give you a pay raise soon. Thirty pilots have already left the airline and many more have interviewed or are about to interview with your competition.

Good luck boys!

Dumba$$...yup, thats you.

When you post or respond "professionally" try doing so without sounding so arrogant. Opinions are just that though you pass yours off as fact. Telling us we are going out of business in a few years, well, "you bet you are going to get a response."

Since you know everything then you obviously know where the toilet paper is. I expect you will be on time to wipe my a$$.

Roadrunnerblue.....

While I do work for JB and this may be taken by some as me being bias...why the blatent JB bashing and putdowns all of a sudden. Its freedom of speech and thats fine but if you are here to just start a fight amoung members, you can leave now. I would say the same thing for any airline...not just JB

How do you even respond to this thread? Personally, i'd like to see the national airspace shutdown for 2 weeks. Whoever still has money at the end to carry on, so be it. No loans, no bail outs. If it means my job, so be it. I'd love to end this arguemant once and for all.

Who do you work for anyway? Your profile doesn't really show anything useful.

Well, RRB, you going to answer this one?

It would give JetBlue that Western Hub they've been looking for, and Frontier would get out of the land-locked situation they're in at DEN. Most employees don't like to admit it, but yes, both jetBlue and Frontier are in danger over the next 5-10 years. A merger would at least extend it.

Genius!!! Getting hooked up with the JB international route network will fix the land-locked situation in DEN.

I like the post about SWA owning DEN...kinda funny. Since they started here we have seen an increase in business (sure say it...go ahead) but the fact remains that we still are beating them in every market they are serving. DOT numbers show we have 4% over them in pax numbers going to LAS, 16.6% over them in SLC, and then the biggest ones, 5.3% in PHX, 15.6% in MDW and 19.4% in BWI(all over by the way)...all SWA hubs...go figure.

How old are these numbers? And are these stats for a cumlative period since SWA began ops in DEN? Or for one month/quarter in particular?

Hate to call you on your quote, but without dates and other info (ie, Are these numbers cumlative or one month/quarter's numbers), these numbers are rather meaningless.

As of tommorrow Aug 8, 2006 Frontier has ONE flight to/from DEN-BWI. SWA has two NS flights, and at least five more flights that connect through MDW, MCI or HOU without additional stops.

Another question not revealed in your post is this: Is the DOT tracking NS flights only? If so, then please post Apr-May-Jun and Jul-Aug-Sept numbers for DEN-BWI, and DEN-MDW when they are released. Those would be interested to see.

I'm not disputing Frontier's great service or their ability to fill their planes and compete with SWA, just the numbers you're posting. Your only posting numbers without details about those numbers, which gives only part of the picture.

Numbers were last quarter, and pertained to the percentage of pax flown out of the DEN airport. I would also assume they would be non-stop numbers since we have NO connecting flights out of DEN...the only way to travel by the way :D .

From what i have seen the numbers have taken a big turn in our favor as well since SW began here...at first they were beating us in those markets. It is common belief that the general public here is beginning to see the difference in product and they are willing to pay more to get the service provided by Frontier over SW(not trying to bash SW).

As for our one flight to BWI, a/c utilization is down on those long haul routes so we have been told they have decreased the frequency to better use those a/c on shorter higher yield routes. Makes sense i guess, but all those flights were always full, but hey, i don't make those decisions, i just drive.
