Canadian taxes are a bit higher but in exchange they get very decent free healthcare and a government that runs a balanced budget. We will all pay sooner or later.

I wouldn't call Canadian healthcare decent or free.

Ask Liam Neeson about Canadian healthcare.

Why did the Canadian Prime Minister go to Florida for surgery last year?

You guys are also forgetting the beer in Canada has a much higher alcohol content on average. I'd say they have it made up there. Why else put with the long winters?

We might have the "best" health care. Sadly, you probably will never see it, like most people.

Basic Statistics

U.S. Canada
Life Expectancy (Male) 74.8 77.4
Life Expectancy (Female) 80.1 82.4
Infant Mortality/1000 live births 6.8 5.3
Obesity Rate (Male) 31.1 17.0
Obesity Rate (Female) 32.2 19.0
HC spending as % of GDP (2005) 16.0% 10.4%

So lets think for a moment Mr. Joe Smith in Canada needs knee surgury. He doesn't like the wait or the quality of service so he goes to the USA for treatment. Yea Mr. Joe Smith can afford to spend $50k out of pocket for something he can get for near nothing in Canada.
People may go outside Canada for treatment and the government may pay for it under extreme conditions. It doesn't happen very often. I have had two close relatives go through Cancer treatments in Canada. Both have been given a clean bill of health and the cost was $11.
There is no reason people should go BK because they get sick.
Hey ever ask yourself why Majic J. went outside the USA for his Aids treatment?

The US would have better health statistics if you could excise Alabama/Mississippi/S Carolina/Georgia/.

Or we can just get them like Jazz...Don't worry, we won't fly them as "Delta Connection" or "United Express"....

You tried that.....The lawsuit failed.
As long as your company flies "Delta Connection," you won't see them, got it sport?;)

These stats are skewed. It is based on equal access to healthcare for all citizens. If you take out the people that are uninsured, our stats blow everyone else out of the water. Currently about 40 million people out of 300 million are uninsured.

We do have the best health insurance in the world... For those who are insured.

ex j-41,

Our Health Care System is not perfect it has some problem. But if my life is on the line I want to be in the United States! I got to experience a U.S. Tramua Center first hand. If my accident would have happened outside the U.S well, I wouldn't be typing right now!

If I need knee surgery I don't have to wait.

I'm glad your relatives made it it through the CA scare.

You don't have to go BK because you get sick. You have to know the rules.

I know why Magic went out of the country. He left because there were experimental drugs being used in other countries. The FDA hadn't approved those drugs. Do you know that if you contract Aids now it's not a death sentence?

Read: not too lazy to get a job.

That would be nice but you forgot about a little thing called WHIP SAW that Jazz really doesn't have to contend with.

Ummmm, you might want to check your facts on that no whipsaw thing..... It wasn't too long ago that Air Canada went shopping south of their border for a "more economical" source for feed. Obviously the threat worked since Jazz pilots are still doing the feed.
