.....looks like NWA will now be a DCI carrier...

If cutbacks are needed, management will probably do whatever costs them less money...

Which DCI contracts have easy outs? The better your contract, the better off you are...there's no BK in this merger.

How much is a wholly-owned worth? If it's market value is low, it might be better to downsize a wholly-owned rather than breach a contract and have to pay penalties or get sued by a contractor.

But they might also take the opportunity to rid themselves of problem-child DCIs. If they are going to pay to get out of flying, they may as well put the money to good use (see current events).

SkyWest has long term contracts, and with SLC and ATL hubs remaining intact, SkyWest and ASA will not be going anywhere anytime soon. Sorry for all the others out there, but maybe Mesa will finally be let go.

As of today 15 Apr 08 0830 with oil over $113 dollars a barrel, look for a few major changes. Initially the sell will be every hub will stay intact. I pitty the fool who believes that. Eventually the economies of scale will take over and the real picture of this merger will be shown. Within 2-3 years you will see a significant downsizing of Memphis and CVG and your major hubs will be ATL, DTW, MSP, JFK, and SLC. In the short term the executives will tell everyone how everything will remain the way it is. Then slowly after approval things will change.
