What have they done in the last 10 years besides bring the industry down?
· Lowest starting pay in the industry. Starting pay is $1750/month. The west pays over $1000 more than that as a new hire.
· First in the industry to giveback their pensions.
· First in the industry to take major concessions.
· First airline to charge for beverages on domestic flights.
· Last in the industry in pay on the 190(16 year cpt pay on the 190 makes less than a Republic pilot).
· Last in the industry in pay on the 737/A320 (16 year captain makes less than a 5 year Southwest f/o, while the first year pay is $25/hr, only $2/hr more than Republic).
· Last in the industry in vacation (7 days after 8 years of employment)
· 2 bankruptcies in less than 5 years.
· A bogus union who doesn’t recognize the term “final and binding.”
· Stabbed their fellow west pilots in the back after they rescued them from the brink of chapter 7 liquidation.
· Chose arbitration for a SLI.
· Chose the Arbitrator for the SLI.
· A CEO who did time in a “woman’s prison.”
· People (and I use that term loosely) like st. nic and mcdu as their spokespersons.

US Airways East is an embarrassment to the industry. They should have disappeared a long time ago, but America West saved them and their company. They truly are a bottom feeder of the industry. I don’t see how they can be called a “legacy carrier.” The only legacy they are leaving is that they are a disgrace.

Scope, stop posting these inaccurate thread titles! IT IS "Why" not "Is" USAirways is a bottom feeder! Please try to pay better attention in future!

US Airways East aren't bottom feeders, they're the floor the other bottom feeders swim above. Good Luck with the "Strike" LOL!!!

Such idiots....

Let's get that strike vote out Mikey & Co. and show the company it means it this time!!!!!! Can they try and get a EAST only strike vote taken thru some 8 to 3 BPR cram down? I like how the CLT office vote was called a cram down!!!!!!!

They have got a hold of the E190's though and thats pretty huge. No other legacy carrier has done that.

Now, now, we need to make an important distinction. The state US Airways was in prior to mid-2005 cannot be blamed on the pilots. The actions of Management cannot be blamed on the pilots. What is the blame of the East pilots is their reprehensible behavior since the arbitrator ruled on the seniority integration. How they got their crappy contract is irrelevant. Why they're still on it is very relevant especially considering they walked away from progressing negotiations during a profitable time for the airline in 2007.
