I haven't run into this yet, but my friend was telling me today that he has heard the TSA will once again require Jumpseaters to get a boarding pass to get through security. Anyone know any truth to this or have this happen to them lately?

Hi!

Just JS out of GRB today. Went straight to security and showed them my co. ID. We don't fly out of GRB.

I have jumped on ATA quite a few times and have never been asked for a boarding pass. (PIT) (LAS) Seems like these two cities are really laid back when it comes to this. PIT usually doesn't even ask any questions when I show them my company ID, usually just a quick glance then I am on my way.

How can they distinguish if your jumpseating or heading to your aircraft for work?

In an airport that your company serves, they can't. I believe the latest tsA nonsense only applies to non revvers (not jumpseaters) flying offline, at airports not served by theirs.

IMHO, it's all just nitpicky nonsense that does little to increase security, yet makes OUR lives that muchj more difficult. The entire problem could be eradicated with proper ID for pilots (at least as good as the ones the new hire rampers get).

It's jumpseaters. Offline, airport not serve by your airline.

Unbelieveable. I am very glad that I don't commute any more. With the daily rule changes (for no reason, I might add), they make it difficult for folks that are non threats to go to work, without increasing "security" one bit.
