There was another security breach at Armstrong International on Monday, this one involving guns. Once again, weapons were detected on a passenger beyond initial checkpoints.
About 9:45 Monday morning, 30-year-old Carlos Stephens passed through security screening area at Concourse B. Later, during a random search at the Continental gate, security screeners say they found two fully loaded handguns in his backpack. According to investigators, Stephens said he was a bodyguard for rapper Master P, and he was on his way to No Limit Records' headquarters in Los Angeles.
Stephens was arrested and charged with carrying a firearm on an airplane, an offense that carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
U.S. Attorney Jim Letten says it was a massive security failure that neither screening machines nor personnel noticed at the main checkpoint.
A spokesperson for the Transportation Security Administration, which oversees airport security, says the incident was not a massive failure because the guns were found before Stephens boarded the plane.
However, the T.S.P. says they are conducting an investigation on the incident."
Notice the first sentence......"another" security breach.
"wasn't a massive failure"....YES....it was. Pure luck that they even got found. Now think about how many weapons are getting on the airplanes undetected.
And to think.......some of you are worried about pilots getting guns.
