I just saw an add for a MU-2 typed-captain with no accident history. Is that possible? Are there any experienced MU-2 drivers who haven't balled one up?

You really are a dumba$$ if you even have to ask that. It's an airplane...you just have to have half a brain to fly the thing safely. Apparently, you wouldn't be capable of being in command of an MU2.

That's really nice butt breathe, however I didn't see you claim no incidents in your previous rambling.

Am I onto something? hmmmmm

And also you are correct, I have a full brain. So therefore it is understandable you would type such a half-baked comment.

Sure thing there, slick. No accidents, no incidents here. The MU2 was a fun airplane to fly - and not the devil machine you and others make it out to be. It got a bad rap because it was a very high performance aircraft in its early days(and still is a high performance turboprop), and had to be flown properly - yet, there were too many pilots flying them that didn't have the experience and/or training to do so. I understand, though...you're scared of the MU2, so you claim it to be an unsafe abomination.

Generally, it is guys that have only flown trainers like KingAirs and Citations that cannot handle a real airplane like an MU2 or a Lear. So leave these airplanes to those with the skill and knowledge to fly them. We don't need more crappy pilots blaming their lack of skill and knowledge on an airplane.

Wow, I wanna be a big real airplane pilot like you someday!

I use to run into many with flawless records back in the day when I would frequent IND. It isn't the airplane that is the problem my friend..

Unfortunately, the pilots just coming up in aviation now have heard about how dangerous the big bad MU2 is by those that have never flown them. In my experience, there is a love/hate relationship with the MU2....pilots either love it, or hate it, no in between. I, personally, loved it. Great airplane. My fav was the Solitare....fast little bugger. I was never asked to "pick the speed up" in an MU2....more than I can say for some turboprops I've flown. :D

I couldn't agree more with you. . I am sure those were enjoyable times for you and flights that you will never forget. I was never fortunate enough to get "much" MU2 time but would have jumped at it in a heartbeat.

It is the "stereotypes" that will always make this bird out to be a bad one, sad distorted picture.

I'd love to fly a MU2. Just gotta be vigilant about OEI operations. One of my professors designed speed mods (yeah, I know) for these planes 15 or 20 years ago. He said they were great, as long as you were paying attention. Aside from the friggin' loud Garretts, they seem pretty sweet.

Didn't an AD mandate autofeather on that thing? Did they come from the factory with it, or was it a required addition?

Gottsa say a few words, MU2's are the best "bang for the buck". I've been out of them for a while then flew one a month ago and had a great time. (I credit Howell Enterprises). No type required, (It was considered).
As far as "balling" what ever you asked, if you have an experienced MU2 driver, you most likely have a very good stick & ruddder guy.

Hey let the ill informed keep giving these planes a bad rap...that way they will stay cheap to buy like they are now and I can convince any flight department that I'm with to buy one instead of a freakin slow ass king air 90:)

Man I always thought I would like to fly an MU2. Now I am glad I didn't. Apparently flying one makes your ego triple in size! I would have to get a whole new hat collection!

Ya know, this statement is about as lame as the one that started this thread.
The airplane just needs some vigilance. And no, flying an mu-2 will not triple the size of your ego, though it may humble you.
And speaking of egos, you might find some inflated ones at the local FBO wearing the "airline blazer" flying a Citation.

Ya what I said was really lame. There really is no ego at all displayed on this thread.

Luckily I fly a nice easy Hawker 800XP with the new Collins avionics. It truely is easy. I am not being sarcastic now. My first two sentences were. But not this little second paragraph.

Let me ask you something... Do you think I have what it takes to safely fly an MU2? Cause I hear its really hard to fly!

Nope I think your hosed! Every MU2 pilot I ever saw was wearing a big red cape with a yellow "S" on it. :)

Wow, Not only a Hawker 800XP, but one with the ne Collins avionics....can I be like you? No seriously, can I?

Aww Daveman you edited away your last post. It was really nice and took all the wind out of my sails. But now its gone and your sayin Naw brah.

I take it you mean I wouldn't be able to handle an MU2? I suspected as much.

I have a fair amount of time in the Ce-500 series "trainers" so my skills probably never developed to the level of an MU2 or Lear pilot.

Those are the real airplanes and should be left to the real pilots.

Hey you've got issues. I've never said cessna 500 series were trainers. Look at my posts. My point was MU-2's were the best "bang for the buck" and most pilots, who flew them were good sticks. To the point.

Why don't you go deal with net jet wife and let this beaten horse die?

Cause my email keeps clicking when there is a reply and I can't help myself.

I was just poking a little fun is all. Never thought I would be taken seriously.

The trainer bit was borrowed from a post higher up... I know it wasn't you.
