I was referring to NW the airline, as in management, who would simply find another group of mexicans (regional airline) to come and mow their lawn.

NW is ALPA too. Work together.

Like Delta did with Comair and ASA?

ALPA needs to get over this mentality that only some jobs are work protecting. Scope should be used to build a real trade union by building strong scope across the brand.
Agreed...but will it, can it, really happen that way?

I believe alpa would only get involved if 9e was on strike and NWA was giving that flying to another carrier. ALPA cant get rid of competition, that would be capitalism that you are talking about.

"The brand" has now become hard to define. Pinnacle is now starting to fly for another carrier, and Newco (Compass) has also entered the mix. If ALPA were to start scoping flying for the regionals, how would it be done? How would you divide the flying between the four carriers? Would PCL get less because they are no longer a "pure" red tail carrier? Does ALPA decide which size airplane that each feeder carrier gets scope for? Way too many issues there. Doing anything more than simply restricting NWA to their existing 3 feeder carriers would be very difficult and would probably create more animosity between carriers than it would solve.

Just like your parents who hired Mexicans to mow the lawn because thier kids refuse to. Why should you be so upset?
