Is Jetblue getting a regional airline?

From what I have heard, it will have to take a two year equip lock, will be hiring Capt's off the street if necessary, starting pay for Capt in the 50-70 range, F/O's in the 40-50 range assuming 85 hour months with all flying oover 70 at time and a half. Will have a JB senority number go 190 Capt to 320 capt if desired. BTW AW&T said the EMB-190 has a range of 2000 NM, for scramjet I think that is just over 2300 SM. Go on line at JB and see what they say.

Pilotyip, you ought to know better than to pass on unsubstatiated rumors. That post was complete BS. Anything you might have heard is a fabrication. Nothing has been announced regarding pay, upgrade, training, equipment locks, etc. in the -190 because they haven't been decided yet, and won't be decided for at least another year. And I would be exceedingly surprised if any street captains would be hired. There are far too many very qualified individuals being hired to need to go outside the company to hire the requisite PIC experience, which is the only possible justification for hiring street captains.

Guys, it's just another aircraft type. JetBlue isn't starting another division. All pilots will be JetBlue pilots. There will probably be some movement restrictions in place, like at most airlines, in order to limit training costs. That's all there is to it. Don't make it out to be more complicated than it is.

Frontier buys a bunch on A318s and the newspapers report that they are buying a few Airbuses....not really front page news but JetBlue buys a bunch of Emb195s and the front pages of every paper states "JETBLUE BUYS REGIONAL JETS!"
The A318 has the same amount of seats, goes just as fast and almost as far (the 318 has a LITTLE better range) as the E195 but the E195 is still an RJ....
The aircraft manufacturer does not make an airplane an RJ folks. For that matter anyone who buys into the E145 or the CL65 being RJs doesnt know anything about them.
At Continental Express, last week I flew a E145XR from EWR to OMA, hardly regional.
Our 4 day trips may span 6 time zones (Atlantic, Eastern, Central, Mountain and Pacific), three countries (USA, Mexico, Canada) and land on both coasts or beyond (Halifax and Nassau)
I fly a Regional Jet....thats the North Western Hemispherical Region.

Thanks. But remember, newspapers can make mistakes. First off, it's an EMB-190, not 195. And if you want to call it an RJ, that's your choice. It's a free country, last I heard. But I would think that the majority of the folks would consider a plane that hold 100 pax, and has a range of over 2000 miles, and dimensions just slightly (and I mean slightly as less than 6 feet length/width) less than an A320 anything but an RJ.

Unless of course, the region is defined as the United States.
