Is it true that a 7 year Flex guy went to Net Jets?

Dont know about the Flex guy, but in the last 6 months I did IOE on a 19 year USAIR guy, he was in his late 40's, and I know in the last class a 12 year Comair guy came over.

OK I'll take that bait. I just left for NetJets after 18 months at Flex. One can only take so many empty promises and in some cases outright lies. If this individual has a family with several dependents the cost of their insurance will skyrocket on Jan 1 06.

There are quite a few senior people a Flex that are considering a move. 7 years is a lot of seniority to give up, but seniority buys you very little at Flex.... you still have the same crappy schedules as everyone else, you still get the new crappy insurance and the new crappy crew meals that are the same except for the packaging (oh and the contents has changed too) furthermore you can't bid into other aircraft, you have crappy commuting rules if you commute (if you don't you must live in Dallas or one the three most expensive housing markets in the US right now EWR, LAX, FLL) and with the staffing levels as they are and the PBS you are all but guaranteed to work Thanksgiving Christmas and New Years as well as most other holidays.

Here are a few other things that you get with 7 years seniority at Flex.... You do get to work 221 days a year. You do get to have your schedule changed and be called once during your rest and you do get to get a verbal pat on the head each week via voice mail from Uncle Dave telling you what a great job you are doing, how you're the best in class, and how the owners love you and appreciate the great job you are doing.

Now before anyone says it I will. I AM NOT A BITTER FORMER EMPLOYEE. I liked working there and I enjoyed the crews that I flew with and were it not for the opportunity a NetJets I would still be there. For me it was an easy business decision. Building seniority at a company that is not growing and not providing the best opportunities in the industry is like putting money under your mattress or burying it in mason jars in the back yard instead of taking a principled investment plan.

If in fact this seven-year crossover does exist, I expect that he took a look at the contract and a look at his current life and then like a smart captain he realized that the weather was down and he was getting low on fuel (read only so many years in a career) and he headed for the alternate. That's what I did.

It's just my opinion, but don't mind me I am only the dumba$$ defending the guy

I put in my Package as well.

Im a flops guy as well, If the company doesnt want to show any love, then I'll find some one who will.
 
CL604DRVR that was an excellent educated post stating your opinion. No one can rightfully call you a "dumba$$" for stating your opinion and how a different job fits your situation better. I know a couple guys will attack you, but it's the same couple guys that are just pissed off, had to much to drink, and making the late night post.

I read in the WSJ where Flex is the only fractional that made money. Why would you want to leave that, that is bargaining power right there.

You are makeing the right move.. I left FlexJet after 5 years and NEVER regretted it!!

That place will take a Union to change it.....

Im over at NJA now and even tho we had a tough battle getting our current contract, It was worth it.

Hang in there.....:D

A person in the family told me he discussed the Marquis card with a sales guy who told him that the Marquis card owners get better service than the fractional owners because they have to be resold as card owners twice as often.
 
What the hell do you care? If the #1 guy at Delta or whatever wants to quit to go fly a dam-n 1900 at Great Lakes, that's his business and his decision. STFU and mind you own dam-n affairs.

I guess they get better sales service... and a sales guy would know. As far as the flights... they are all the same and the sales guys know Jack Shiite... I believe they do know what goes on with sales and buyback accounting. Whether they tell the truth about what they know... hey thats another question.

marquis is the same as any other owner. They sit in the back. Problem is marquis is like renting a car vs owning it. Owners tend to understand that someone else will be using the plane when they are done. Marquis well....
 
I have heard of a few cases where senior Flex Captains have been given their walking papers after only a minor infraction of the SOP's, etc.

Can it be Flex tries to keep the "fat cat" Captains from decreasing their bottom line? Less expensive to upgrade a F/O and pay em less than to keep these 7-10 year Captains?

PS all three of these Captains were less than a month from recurrent training...HHmmm

Don't have a fit, fella. I was simply stating this as it is a surprize that FJ management is continuing to allow this situation to go on. You might need to give yourself a hand in order to relax a little. Don't forget the complimentary hand lotion.:uzi:

Flex management has known this was comming for years, in fact they created this mess by telling folks that worked there "don't you worry whatever happpens over at NJA we will take care of you". They knew then that they were not going to do any such thing and now the day of reckoning for that policy is here. Remember Flex is run by former commuter airline guys and commuter airlines and long term employees are not generally used in the same sentence unless the words do not have are between them. In my opinion I belive that Flex management belives that pilots are like engines... run em out and replace em.
 
Kudos to this guy for having more sac than just about anyone around. The fact that someone would leave is the ultimate litmus test for the current state of affairs at FlexJet. Too many broken promises, too little employee appreciation, same old schedule, diminishing benefits, downsizing crew meals.... he's not a genius, he's just plane old smart.

I left Flex for NJA.

I like it much better at NJA.

Please don't sit at Flex and tell me how stupid I am, you can never know because you haven't done it.

This conversation never goes anywhere. I am happy you are happy at Flex. I have alot of buddies there. To all my buddies at Flex, Merry Christmas, I'm alive and well at NJA.

Yes.
He is still here now. But will be leaving soon. A 7 year Flex guy. Good Capt. in the 60.. He will be missed.

Maybe when the company gets sold off things will improve. What's the writing on the wall say about that?
