If I were to fly an ILS approach inverted...would I fly opposite the localizer/ GS indications or with them, or would one be different from the other ?

Soon-to-be FAR 91.199 Category 69 ILS approaches (Inverted)
Any aircraft attempting an inverted ILS shall have the controls reconfigured in a 'reverse' mode. Attempting an inverted ILS with conventionl control rigging has proved fatal for experienced pilots who are unable to react with reverse control input as would be required with conventional rigging.

Try it on your flight simulator. Just because its whacked, and something you wouldn't do in real life, doesn't mean you can't challenge yourself on the sim.

Speaking about ms flight simulator, my nephew wants to be a pilot and he loves flying that thing. I watched him fly it for a while.
This game is very advanced as to what it was in the 90's when I last saw it. It's funny how when you pull up to the gate and park, the jetway moves up to you. Mostly in real life flying, they're not near that fast. LOL

I can't believe I'm posting on this thread...

But, you had me think for about 3 seconds... it would be flown as normal.

Draw an HSI with a 1 dot low, 1 dot left deflection on a pice of paper.

Turn it upside down.

Suddenly you're 1 dot high and 1 dot right.

Follow nosehairs's advice and you won't be killed...

Cheers
George

The instruments don't know that you're inverted. It'll tell you if youre above or below GS, and right or left of course.

So.... if you're above GS, go down (pull back on the stick if you're inverted), vise versa if you're below. If you're right or left of course, obviously if you're inverted your right and left are switched, so you're backwards. But also remember that when flying inverted your lift is reversed and your horizontal component of lift works toward the bottom of the plane. That is, if you bank to your right, the plane will turn to your left.

Are all of you sure your Localizer will track correctly (Inverted) ? How is a localizer signal sent out...why do older aircraft have actual colors on there CDI, Blue and Yellow, in the center of the instrument ? Good Luck !

The nest question is: do you call for gear "down", or gear "up"?

Just draw the 150 and 90 Lobes, that should answer your question!

and if the curvature of the wing creates a lower pressure on top and a higher pressure on the bottom.... AKA LIFT!
Then how do aiplanes fly upside down? Ask that one to a new solo GA pilot!

and if the mirror changes you from left handed to right handed, why doesn't it change you from top to bottom?

why is there air?

The answer is: Ta Da!!!!! - Do whatever it takes to keep the needles/bars centered.

The answer is always "do whatever it takes"
I love the guys who always call for "wind check" on final! Like it is going to change his actions.

Ya, in your big ol' MD-11, it don't matter if it rains or freezes, you just fly that hunk of metal on down till you open the doors...

Me, on the other hand... in my little Cessna 170, I always ask for a wind check... and I always have one eye on the wind sock, the other eye on which way the grass is blowing and the other eye on the smoke coming out of the recycling plant's smoke stack, and the other eye on the runway...

....now there's some reeal flyin', now, i tell you whut. no, really.
