I'm trying to jumpseat to Europe last minute, however as I understand it there is a new list one must be on 24 hours before departure...anyone know how to do this? I'm trying to use DAL or NWA.

Metarman,

Going over to Europe, just go thru ATL, CVG, or JFK and pre-pay your taxes FIRST (obviously check the loads prior--a ticket counter person should help out) in the terminal and then go to the gate. If there is room in the back, then I bet you will get on. I don't really know how it works coming back to the US, it might be the same if you would be travelling in the back of the plane. I would ask the person you talk to when you are pre-paying your airport taxes. They would know. Good luck and I don't think you will have any trouble going on DL---if so---then post it on here. Have fun.

I JSed on DAL from SVO to JFK about 1 month ago. I got treated like I was some millionaire and even got preboarded. Go DAL all the way! General thanks for all the tips, btw! I got biz Elite, which was so nice!

METARMan,

The issue (TSA's issue) is not leaving the United States, it is returning to the U.S. You should have no difficulty on any airline that allows your company international jumpseating getting over to Europe. It is my understanding of the TSA SD that the 24 hr. rule applies to cockpit travelers (this is according to the ALPA jumpseat chairman). However, gate agents, ticket agents, and security personel in Europe are not as up-to-date as we would like. The trick is to keep trying until you get what you want (i.e. a boarding pass to ANYWHERE in the U.S.). Also there are a few cargo carriers with cockpit doors that can accomodate international jumpseats. As the Jumpseat Chairman for my airline, I made a downloadable list of all airlines, their websites, and phone numbers, perhaps your jumpseat chairman/person has a similar list. I have heard some say "no problem" others have been "stuck for days". I think going well equipped [as many contingency plans as possible] is key. Good Luck.

Flyer2000,

Is that policy if you intend to SIT IN THE COCKPIT? I think you can still sit in the back and not have to talk to the TSA 24 hours prior. But, I really don't know....It might be a good idea to find out first...

ILStomins,

Good for you. Yeah, those seats are really nice.

I agree with the general. Jumpseated in feb/2004 from PIT to FRA. it took usairways over an hour to figure out how to bill me for my taxes. (I'm not an employee for usair). once on board they treated me well , envoy class!!

In FRA I asked the gate agent if I could jumpseat to any USAIR destination.
( out of FRA they go to CLT, PIT,PHL) no problem, they treated me much better than in PIT, said they will not allow me to sit coach, so I sat envoy class again.
If you are not an employee, obviously you won't sit in the cockpit, that's why I never had to list. it was the 4th time I've taken USAIR across the pond.

Do you guys know of any other US carriers or carriers that will allow jumpseat to Moscow Sheremetevo Airport other than DAL? Any cargo or foreign carriers that allow JSers?

Thanks!
