Funny thing about arbitration, you never know how it will turn out. All the bravado aside it's a crap shoot. The arbitrator(s) have not consumed large amounts of LUV juice and have no special feelings about "culture". They also have not been involved with the rise of a little airline in the busiest airport in the world battling Big D for survival. They have no attachment, and no stake in the company affected by their ruling. This is why it would behoove both sides to reach an agreement before arbitration. If an agreement were to pass both groups, it would be hard for one side to feel hosed.

Neither side really knows what the ruling would look like. Do they see things in line with AWA/USAir or DAL/NWA, or do they see this as something different? Do both pilot groups want to bet the future on this? Work together, come up with something fair, and hopefully both sides realize compromise is better than a crap shoot.

Good post.

There is enough of a disparity that it will most certainly NOT be NWA/DAL. Let's work it out beforehand so there is no career roulette.

Gup

So much for your "don't discuss SLI" pledge.

I understand Gary being VERY nice to outsiders about to be part of our culture. If you make him eat his words it will end poorly for you.

I didn't say anything about SLI. I said Gary Kelly knows what AirTran brings to the table, that's why he offered to buy us.

Some of you guys that get on here and thump your chests about your culture are probably not being the best ambassadors for said culture.

All of you do realize this deal will close long before the SLI is finalized. Not to be mean but perhaps the behavior on these board is why the deal was not contingent on pilot approval or integration. You all act like the deal will not close if we do not reach an immediate SLI. WRONG!!!! This deal will close as soon government approval and board/Stockholder approval. Please ask GK why they did not include the pilots for the deal to finalize. They want this done regardless of us pilots. Think about it b

Wow!!! You know what our MC wants/needs to do and you also know how 50% or our pilot group will vote!! Read your post before you hit the submit button you moron. Have fun hanging around Guadalupe Holdings at your new pay rates....you might be there for a while.

I suggest some counseling for the anger management. Or posting sober;)

Call your MC and ask them whether they welcome arbitration. Then get back to me.

You might follow your own advice regarding posting. If you think GD Holdings is anything more than an administrative Tool then ..... Go back a word or seven

RIDETHELIGHTING: What's the big hurry to get the SLI done? If a good one can be negotiated it's a lot better than sending it to an arbitrator for who knows what.

To be honest, that's a hypothetical question. Those who are in a hurry to get to the end of the SLI process consist of those who want SWA pay rates, don't have them yet, and figure they have little to lose in arbitration.

To their chagrin, the other group is very interested in what happens in the SLI process and is in no hurry to rush to an SLI that's not appealing.

Frankly, the SLI won't be appealing to either group. You can't delay the inevitable. The arbitrator will decide and I doubt he'll consider any "culture" when making said decision.

You are absolutely right. The arbitrator will stick with facts. Facts like any integration, including a staple, will bring a tremendous career windfall for all F9 pilots. The rest is just emotional and will be discarded as such. He will stick to the facts and those boys are the facts.
