I'm doing my CFII and need a inst. handbook. Which do you guys recommend? Rods? The FAA one? others?

All I need is a handbook, I've got the written and PTS/FAR stuff.

Thanks

Instrument Flying Handbook

Let's just say the manual that you better have is the FAA Instrument Flying Handbook, FAA-H-8083-15 reprint which supplants AC 61-27C. You will be expected to know this book forwards and backwards, chapter and verse.

Look at your CFI PTS. It will list all the references from which your practical will be drawn. FAA publications always contain everything it wants you to know, perform and teach. They are always the FAA final word.

Hope that helps. Good luck with your CFI-I.

Hello,
The FAA Instrument Flying Handbook is excellent, in particular the chapter that deals with basic attitude instrument flying. Most of this information has been obtained through the USAF instrument manual. Another excellent manual that I have and use extensively in my flight instructor duties is, "Everything Explained for the Professional Pilot" by Richie Lengel and it's available from: http://www.aviation-press.com
