For the record...a "Major Airline" is defined by the D.O.T. as having at least $1 Billion in annual revenue.

Spirit is not a Major airline. Spirit is a National airline: as defined as having between $100 Million - $1 Billion in annual revenue.

Hope this clears that up.

Thanks...I do like the underline (how is mine?), super neat!

Q1 2011 $232.7 M
Q2 2011 $275.9 M
Q3 2011 $288.7 M
Q4 2011 $TBD

So, technically you are correct...just a few more weeks until we can officially move the Majors section, of course this is all pending $202.7 M in revenue for Q4 2011. But seriously, do the "this thread should be in a different area" police really have such tiny balls they have to patrol fi to find violations?

Yeah I was just joking about the Majors/LCC posting issue.

Spirit stuff can go wherever. I think it's usually posted in the LCC section, but whatever.

I've heard some regional airlines cross the Majors $ barrier, but I think posts should be organized logically, not based on little peepee syndrome.

LAS crew base announced. Opening February 1, 2012.

I was just thinking what an odd date for a base to open...I'm pretty sure that February 1 is not the beginning of the February bid month. Usually, because February is short, they toss January 31 and March 1 into February. But February has 29 days in '012 so maybe only March 1 will get thrown into February this year.

Bases can open and cose whenever management wants.
Monthly bids are a whole other animal.

Metrojet

really, is that how it works? I wasn't clear on managements ability to to whatever the f it wants and our ability to "fly it and grieve it" with our thumbs up our, well you get the idea. Also being a former rjet employee, I am quite clear on the ability of management to open bases without proper support facilities for crews, parking, computers, bag storage, etc and to close them on a whim, only to have them open again in a few months only to have them close again.

so if the bid month begins on January 31...and the base opens February 1, I guess that would be good for all involved (or based at the new base) because they will get a deadhead on the 31st and a hotel room to be in position for the new base flights on the 1st.

but like i said before (and the only thing i said before--nothing more)...what an odd date for a base to open, probably not even on the first day of the bid month.

Uhhhh, yeah...ok. Whatever you say.

You asked for a definition of what constituted a "Major" and you got one. I'm surprised you didn't already know it.

I knew what the answer was...it was actually a rhetorical question (you know about those, right?) and since i added in all the extra clues as to what i was eluding too (that was the fancy looking numbers) I am just dumbfounded as to how you didn't get it.

Nice attempt at backpeddling. Try not to fall off the bike next time.
