Can you point me in the right direction? I've done a couple of searches but didn't see much. Is everyone just waiting and seeing? Has anyone interviewed with them yet or gotten notices?

I know of no movement yet in terms of calls, telephone interviews, scheduled interviews, etc.

It seems odd, insofar as they earlier announced hiring in June, due to aircraft deliveries being scheduled for 3rd or 4th Q 2006.

SATSAir with jets

This DAYJet operation is the same as SATSAir except the aircraft is a VLJ instead of a SE-piston Cirrus, same concept!!!

Be that as it may, the company has generated a great deal of interest both within and outside the industry, and were planning to begin interviewing and hiring pilots this month. It's early--it will probably happen in the days and weeks ahead. So far this company has done most everything on or very close to their predicted timetable.

When can we expect to see the requirements for FO's, the pay scale, and Texas bases?

If it really is going to be a M-F gig then you just might have to sign me up.

Quit being so negative. Get back in your King Air and buzz off...

Is the SATSAir concept not working? Why? I'm unfamiliar with it.

DayJet

There is an artical in this months issue of Aviation International News (AIN). I think you can go to there website too.

Press release today indicating the first "DayPorts" in Florida. BCT,LAL.GNV,PNS,TLH. Only time will tell...

Until you actually have aircraft delivered and are going to fly, the need for trained pilots is not that necessary. They just announced the cities and the first aircraft will probably not be until 4th quarter so to get 3 or 4 where you can actually do much will likely be next year.

Futhermore, they have eight pilots on the payroll flying the other aircraft.

Thanks for the info. Signed up for the updates but didn't get anything in the email yet. Must not be on the list yet. Has anyone speculated how they will cover the country next after the SE? Will it be NE then midwest maybe?

How soon are we going to see these Eclipse aircraft zipping around Florida? What is the latest estimated start date for Dayjet's operations in Florida?

Have you seen how tight that flight deck is? I would say that if you are over 6 feet tall you might have some issues. No, I have never seen one in person but from the looks of it - it looks cramped up front (even tighter than a Lear). And, with two pilots it could be even tighter depending upon who you are flying with...

Anyone out there test-fly an Eclipse yet? I know the Avio system has all the bells and whistles but it looks tight up front (and in the back).

If you check dimensions, the Eclipse is comparable to the C310 in size (and weight). I haven't been inside an Eclipse, but it looks like it might be like a 310 in that it will be a pilots airplane; meaning pilots will love it for its performance and handling, but passengers will be less than impressed with the small cabin. Just my 2 cents...

Well, if people are expecting an "air taxi" that is what they will evidently get in terms of comfort too. I am sure some people won't mind so long as their business meeting commutes are reduced.

You're right about the aircraft likely being a pilot's aircraft - it should perform well. Just hope that your fellow pilot up front is not obese.

I recall reading somehwere that the check airmen were ex-united and the training was going to be done at some large flight safety installation. any truth to this?

And your problem is???

Jets for Dummies

Just shows what they think pilots are worth. Good luck with that place.

Keep in mind that Eclipse is designing this airplane with the owner/pilot in mind. They are attempting to simplify things so this bird can become the new Dr/Lawyer killer. As far as professional pilot attitudes go, the author hit the nail on the head. This is NOT the atom-splitting business after all, and the "We are God's gift to mere mortals to bless you with our presence" attitude that some in this business have only hurts the reputation of all.

I don't care how big a Lear/Gulfstream/Boeing you fly, you still gotta squat to $hit like the passengers do. A dose of humility goes a long way in this profession.

No wonder they aren't publishing the pay. $50k for any jet captain is way low. There is no reason for a professional pilot with years of training and tens of thousands of dollars invested to make less than a truck driver with 2 weeks of training at a driving school. I made over $50 grand flying a C208 for Chrissakes!

Hi!

$50K could be a TON of money, or not very much, depending on your point of view.

If you live in FL, and want to be home EVERY night and EVERY weekend, then $50K is a lot. If you don't have a home/family and/or don't care how long it takes to commute or how long you're on the road, then you can get higher paying jobs elsewhere.

I'm sure DayJet will have tons of applicants. I definitely would if I lived in that area or wanted to move there.

I agree cliff, it is a matter of perspective. I am just frustrated when I see people willing to settle for crap wages just because they want to fly. It drags down the whole industry.

I walk 5 minutes to work, average 3 work days a week, and about 3 RON's a month and make over $70k for my trouble. I am luckier than most. Those DayJet people will be working harder than I do, and deserve to make more money than the guy driving the city bus they rode on getting to the airport, IMO. We pilots need to have more self respect and demand what we are worth.

Any updates on Dayjet? Any further estimates on when we might see those Eclipses on the line? Q3 or Q4?

With all of the travel hassels getting even worse, perhaps Dayjet will benefit even more during the start up phase....
