A "low fare" carrier that operates mainly RJs? Are these guys smoking crack?

ya, they call them commuters

Saw the IA guy on local news this morning. Says they'll be flying GSO this Summer, and bragged about how long they'd been in business.

Personally, I hope they DO pull it off. I know a couple people from ACA and all are great guys, and Blue Ridgers always seemed to have the funniest 'radio demeanor' around. :D

I wonder if the furloughed folks will come back post-recall for the chance to fly Airbii, or if most would be too wary to risk whatever they're doing now (assuming they're doing something now)?

Give 'em heck IAir!

Too many planes, too quick. Sorry thats my take.

KingAirer,

We have already been in business for 14 years as a regional and are repainting and putting new interiors in the planes we already fly. There will be 9 schedule additions for the CRJ planes starting June 16 and running through September 1st. Here's the schedule for you:

Would you have us start slower and have our fleet sitting around doing nothing? That would be non productive.

The Airbus 319's start flying in November.

You dipsh!ts need to go back to the regional board. We have to read enough garbage about RJ's from the Jet Blue girls!

Where did you get RJ's?

And please enlighten us as to how ACA was able to acquire RJ's?

ONLY because of your affiliation with UAL. Now, you take those RJ's in direct competition with the company that helped you get to where you are.

Best of luck with the WAR you started at Dulles.

By honoring a CONTRACT with UAL for over 10 years.

ONLY because of your affiliation with UAL. Now, you take those RJ's in direct competition with the company that helped you get to where you are.

Only after an attempt to force a renegotiation of the said CONTRACT.

Best of luck with the WAR you started at Dulles.

Thank you. Please keep in mind that as pilots we are not the makers of war, only the participants. I have no ill will towards any other pilot groups, and hope that you feel the same way.

Nice. Lets hear about your 1900 stories, maybe a cool anecdote about the Lear.

You've got to love the mainline guys. First they're pissed because we're flying RJ's and taking their jobs. Now they're pissed because we're leaving.

Nothing personal, just business. UAL offered us an inferior contract, then tried to get Lorenzo jr to buy us when we bailed.

We're SO happy to be leaving the UAL "family."

Best of luck.

Sigh, the old "we made you, you are being disloyal" arguement.

Let's see, we are "dis-loyal" but is is OK to run us through the Bain how low will you go competition and "give" all of our flying to mesa, republic and tran states. Two of these were booted by UAL before and are now back. That's real loyalty for ya. Then UAL's new/old pal Jonnie O comes after us, that's loyalty as well.

We got RJs before you "allowed" them, remember? I also flew at Air Willie before there was such a thing as an express, eagle or connection carrier. This sham of code sharing was created by the majors when they monkeyed wiith the resv systems to show on line above time base for connections. Before that, ARW flew 120 seats in the 146-300, flew under it's own code and offered interline fares with UAL, AA, DL, EA, NW & RP, essentially everybody out of ORD & MSP. Nobody cared what we flew and where we flew.

Face it, you priced yourself out of the smaller markets. I don't begrudge you your big jets and your former big paychecks, but the flying public does. That is why you will evolve into an international and coast to coast carrier.

I've got no beef with UAL drivers, I've got friends and former flying partners working there and wish them well, but your management can eat me raw.

I fully agree that all flying for a code should be flown by pilots on THAT company's list. We just want to go our own way, so wish us luck and smile while you give us the finger.

OBTW, you are still welcome to my jumpseat, anytime, anywhere. Afterall this divorce wasn't caused by you or me, we're just drivers, not airline presidents.

PBE;

That was by far the most professional post I have seen on this board in a very long time. Thanks for restoring my faith in this web site. Looking forward to catching a ride with you guys out of ORF this summer................Good luck and Godspeed to all you "Blue Ridgers" out there as you set out on your new journey!

No where in my post did I say you were being "disloyal". You management felt it better in go this route, so be it. It's your bed, you can sleep in it. But make no mistake, it will be war in Dulles. I hope you guys make it.

I agree that the mainline carriers are going to become international and coast to coast airlines. I've been saying that ever since the invention of the RJ. We allowed the camel to get his nose under the tent, and now he's about to take a big $hit in the center ring.

Just a few things that I consider fact.............

- In my 9 years at a mainline carrier, let's run thru the cities that I've flown to with the mainline, and now we don't even service.

- BNA, MEM, TYS, LIT, BHM, JAX, ICT, SDF, ABE, ORF, ROA, RDU.

- These are just some of the cities I can remember. And these are the ones east of DEN.

Now, why did we pull out of these cities? "We priced ourselves out of the market" I believe you said. And you know what? You're absolutely right. There were PILOTS and at other airlines that were willing to be paid MUCH less to fly these routes for us. Easy decision for airline mgmt. So, mainline pilots lost jobs as a result.

So, I'll say this. This career is ruined. "Independent" carriers, such as your future selves, JB, Eagle, etc. are paid less than what a major airline pilot used to make. The salaries will never get back to what they once were. (And I'm not talking about $300K/yr 747 pilots.) I'm talking about making about $180K as an Airbus captain. A fair wage for the responsibility you are given, IMO. Oh sure, you can make 180K at JB, but only if you work your a$$ off.

So, for all you future airline pilots out there. If your going to be happy making $120K/yr and being gone 18 days/month, this job is for you.

That being said, I have no ill will towards any other airline's pilots. You are all welcome on my jumpseat anytime. I just wish we could've nipped this thing in the bud long ago, because now it's too late.

Best of luck with your new venture.
