Pretty low fares. Hope they expand their market some more within the coming months, cause they could be a real contender.

I was checking fares for a friend tonight and Independence and Airtran were the lowest competitors on this particular route in July. But when you looked at the flight details, it said aircraft N/A for IA. Hum, selling seats on airplanes that don't exist yet. Just hope that when he shows up to airport, there is something to fly on.

Big gamble and lotsa jobs will be riding on this one. . Hope this will work but for them but seems like quite a bit of oversaturation in some of these markets. You can count on the others to match these fares when able. The first 12 months should be quite interesting to say the least.

We (ACA) have no choice...United did not honor our existing contract. Last time I checked this was a free market economy. I can only speak for myself...but I'd rather see us try to make it on our own than be abused as a contract regional airline by legacy carriers. I'm excited about flying under our own "flag". Check out the website and watch the press release.

You guys were pretty much forced into a corner with very few other alternatives or options so this must work, failure cannot be in the cards. I think the current plan looks like a well thought out one but only time will tell. Someway and somehow IA will have to find a way to stay competitive in these markets as well implement future expansion plans that will work and increase profit and minimize losses, easier said than done. The first 12 months or so in operation should be telling on what to expect... This is a pretty unique gamble given the present day circumstances of the industry and I can't see too many other regionals being able (or willing) to follow in IA's footsteps. I can only wish ya'll much luck, hopefully you won't need too much of it.

i really dont understand this whole low fare crap everytime i look at those airlines i can usually find same fares on the big cariers and sometimes even lower so how is it a low fare airline if it charges the same???
their cost for a ticket from nyc to chicago is 236.90 usd on travelocity i found i can fly on northwest for 232.90 on thesame dates.
so how is it low????

Try walking up to a NWA ticket counter and buy a ticket from NYC-ORD for today and return tonight. Let me know the price.... lol

I'll save you some trouble. I looked up RT airfare on Travelocity and NWA came in at the lowest starting from 232 for today. Only one problem though, they wont let you reserve this seat within 6 hours of departure so the 232 is moot. I looked up a ticket for tomorrow to return tomorrow night and NWA came in the lowest at 385 with UAL being the highest at 786. These roundtrip airfares also are subject to massive restrictions if you have time to read all the fine print Take note, all fares are posted as "Roundtrip From $XXX". With I-Air, you walk up to the counter, thats what you pay. Everyday, all day, no restrictions.

I have it on pretty good authority that ACA managment had been kicking aroud the idea of forming a LLC for several yeras now. The whole UAL thing forced the hand. If Indepdence can make it past the first 24 months they should do pretty well. They already have the route structure that shows profit(which is the hard part).
