I head from a reliable source that SWA was bringing in 16-18 folks per interview day, vice the normal 12. Anyone care to comment on this change? Does this mean the success rate will change or are they still going to take the standard 25% (3 of 12 or 4 of 16)? With expanding routes and
"firming up" buy options to solid orders, it appears that more folks are needed.

When I interviewed in November they were bringing in 18 per day for six days a month. The hire rate is closer to 33% right now. They say they're looking to hire 500/yr for the forseeable future. There are about 140 firm deliveries on order with about 30+ ac/yr arriving on property. Lots of retirements happening also.

I went to training in early May. My instructor said that the instructors had a meeting on May 1st where they were told that the plans for hiring for 2006 had changed. Instead of hiring 440 pilots for 2006 the new plan is to hire 630 pilots. Of course all plans are subject to change.

We were told 500/yr for the next 10 years. That was last month during the interview. Basically doubling in size by 2016. FYI...there were 11 of us...a week or so to go till the DB. My pulse goes up just thinking about it.

...wish my yr wait would hurry up...

I sure hope this happens....but it always scares me when these predictions are made. I was sitting in class at AA in 2001 they told me the same thing.....6 months later I got flushed....still trying to recover! Can't wait to get started!
