I have to say I'm happy that we have not gotten a memo saying anything about cost competativeness and the RJ's leaving.

I think the top told us upfront that SLC would be shaky and they didn't lie.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that management has done nothing wrong on this one.

The union:
I believe I remember some union hacks writing on here that Skywest could never take any of our jets... something, something, combined carrier petition. Whoops
Oh yeah and why do SKYW pilots make more than ASA pilots? Where are ya on that one Union.
To the hacks that want SKYW to get a Union please explain to me the upside of SKYW getting a union.

Oh yeah and this is for GO-AROUND and the other union guy to let them know I'm keeping the faith.
1. Strike now
2. All I want for Christmas is a fair contract
3. 4 years is long enough for a fair contract
4. Burn it down... I refuse to be a bottom feeder and do this job for less.
5. Raise the bar
6. SKYW is flying the 70 for 50 rates
7. Fly the contract
8. Bump passengers that will show the management of a fee for departure airline who is boss.
9. We will show management that we have the balls of the comair FA's.
10. Screw scheduling is screwing you!

Crash,

I guess your not based in SLC?

Mgmt should have pushed for more flying out of SLC. The longer the leg the 700 flies the more efficient it becomes.

I blame mgmt for all of of our problems! We just fly airplanes from point A to point B.

Maybe if we didn't spend 40 million a year on lost bags we might be more efficient.

Hey Guys,

First off, I certainly feel for the SLC guys. Having been through the DFW closure, being uprooted really sucks. Its worse if you have a family and kids that need to be uprooted ---- again, as most of the SLC'ers were displaced once, just 18 months ago! That said, I think everyone saw this coming since the day SKYW bought us. Is it good business to not have overlapping bases.....I don't know. Thats above my pay grade. Perhaps it is, and we all want our company to be as profitable as it can. But, the bottom line is, more sh!t piled on the fine employees and flight crews at ASA. You Skywesters need to show a little compassion and understanding at what we have been through. No, it is not your fault......just a little compassion, huh. We all work for the same boss, you know. ASA has closed two bases in the last year and a half, been through the ringer with the mother of all contract negotiations, had our current agreement violated at every turn, been abused by our schedulers as a matter of routine. Hey, its all part of the business, right...and yeah, we all chose to work here. But, we are all people. It is going to be hard to watch our base close, and to watch 'our' aircraft go over to Skywest pilots and watch many Junior pilots upgrade due to your new windfall and additional growth, while we once again shrink. (Hopefully only for the short term) How many 6+ year FO's do you guys have? Well, thats going to be about the norm here at ASA. It seems there are the haves (Skywest, Chatauqua, Republic) and the have nots (ASA, Comair, Mesaba). It sucks to be in the latter, so how about a little understanding and compassion, huh!

Most of us are more compassonate and understanding than you think. Personally I think it FN sucks. Maybe if ASA folks can get over DOH and SkyWest folks can get over staple to find some sort of common ground, we could keep some crews from being displaced to ATL.

I appreciate you comments. One thing I think we all need to realize is it doesnt matter what we all want.....Skywest Holdings is going to operate us separately from now till eternity. Its a waste to debate it. Lets save our breath.

You gonna be out there walking in circles on the 24th? Otherwise, all of the above is just words on a message board.

I agree that this sucks for SLC people, that's why I'm in ATL. Cause I knew it was the safe bet. Companies do what they do and it is not malicious towards the workers. However, we did and do have some in managment that are cold hearted BIIIIIIIATCHES about it!!!!!!

Just as some clarification, we aren't shrinking...at least according to what they are telling us. We are giving one aircraft for every one we get according to what mgmt is saying....we are getting a 900 for every 700 we give up...

of course this all is yet to be seen, but that is the word so far. Additionally, we are receiving some additional 50 seaters from what they were saying yesterday...i think it was six this year. Anyway, we aren't shrinking...according to what they are saying. Also, the only 6 year FO's we have are those that choose to remain fo's. upgrade is about 4yrs.

First,

ASA management has nothing to do with this, they do as ordered by Skywest.
But, they so far have handled it better than last time.

2nd,

I dont think any of us 'hacks' said they cant move aircraft to SkyWest or the other way. There is a danger in doing it though, in that it is a predicate for ruling on a single carrier. If management does not want to have a merger shoved down their throat, dont show operational control. Well sportsfans, here is some control.

3rd,

ASA's top rate is $102.59, SkyWests is $93.00. Where you on that "non-union"?

4th,

1. Enforceable Contract
2. No 'At-Will' employment. Can't fire you for no reason.
3. A fleet of lawyers/advisors
4. Aeromedical representation
5. A say in your future
6. Real leverage with management that they legally must recognize.
7. ALPA Safety department
8. Reps that will represent you, not management. Comes in handy in a bullsh!t carpet dance.
9. Grievance system
10. Lobbying government

just a few...

And for you: Why would you not want this?

4 years? hmmm... I guess I should be capt then huh?

It more likely at LEAST 5-5.5 years. So a 6 year FO at ASA really isn't that unlikely.

Well I just passed 4 years last month. And no upgrade yet. Where did the info about the 6 50 seaters come from, it was not in the official announcement. I was only a few numbers away from a 60+% raise per hour and the chance to get 1000 pic so I can go some place else. For me not getting new airplanes and the upgrades that come with them and potentially getting smaller makes big difference. I guess the guys that say they don't care if we loose airplanes are at the top of the 70 seat captain list and will not get kicked back from 3 days to 4 days, or 4 days to reserve or from Captain to FO if ASA shrinks. To me that is much more of a pay cut that taking Skywest rates which would not only give me a raise but probably get me to the left seat.

:mad:I think what people are P#ssed about out here in SLC is that we are going back to what...ONE base that can in NO WAY handle all of our aircraft! If you think it sucks NOW, just WAIT!! It is going to be the MOTHER of all Clusters!!!

1 base for us and what...14 for skywst? Yeah, REAL NICE! Oh but wait, lets take pay cuts and sing cumbayah my lord, cumbayah!
Just another example of our idiotic mgmnt doing their best to P#ss off more pilots and their families.

Tomct,

I don't think they're doing it just to p!ss off pilots and their families. I think that's just a by product of thier ineptitude. It sure would be nice to have another base or two. That's one of those Skywest culture things I was really hoping they were going to bring to ASA when they came.

Amen brother!

Here is the thing. unless you are in the top 10% at ASA, SKYW is making more than you. This is a fact the union likes to forget when they are yelling about the 70 for 50 pay garbage.

I'm sure this factored into the closing of SLC. Skywest is expensive on the 50 and they need more 70's.

What about ASA's 200 top captain pay of $82.00? Doesn't that average it, I know that the SKYW captains don't always fly one or the other all the time? Just wondering what you thought on that?

:(Blucher, I am with you on your wish! But once again, our mgmnt is showing their LACK of intelect. Everyone was saying that JA was going to bring that type of basing over to us here at ASA, but NOTHING YET! Keep firing those mgrs though, JA, That we do Appreciate!:D
