I got my IFR ride done, (talk about anticlimatic!) and now I'm legal to fly in the clouds, yay...
That's right folks! I know officialy have enough rope and enough aircraft to kill myself much faster than a simple private pilot. (and yes i know that an IFR rating still leaves me as a private until i get my commercial blah blah blah)

Congratulations, and I don't mean to belittle what you've accomplished, but it's going to be icing season pretty soon which means a lot less IFR flying. Somewhat ironic, in a strictly humorous kind of way.
 
Congratulations! The Instrument ticket was the most challenging in my opinion. Even more impressive is your attitude (in a good way)!

Just remember this is where you really start to learn to fly IFR....solo....it take alot to keep on top of the rating so file IFR everytime and practice alot....

And dont forget depending on the equip you fly, you might be in a hold with lots of big aircraft above and below you....good luck and enjoy...

Congratulations! I like your attitude.

The instrument rating is really a license to learn. Use it; the more seasoning you get in the system the more confident you'll become. Fly SAFE!

Something about being able to blast through an overcast layer and *pop* there's a beautiful blue sky and sunshine waiting for you just a few hundred feet above the bases....

IFR is the way to go..

Congratulations! As someone mentioned, next to the CFI checkride, you've probably passed the most demanding checkride the FAA has to offer. I like your attitude - and yes, you are a hazard and yes, the FAA probably ought to issue NOTAMS the first few times you actually file. :p

For what it's worth, I made Weather Flying by Robert Buck and Instrument Flying by Richard Taylor mandatory reading for all of my instrument students after they had passed their checkride. They aren't the typical ground school textbooks; in fact, they contain little, if any, weather or instrument flying theory. Weather Flying discusses how to fly weather in the real world and Instrument Flying discusses how to fly the various instrument procedures in the real world. They are easy and enjoyable reads.

Most people, after getting their instrument rating, still have little or no idea how to safely use it. It can be pretty intimidating getting the first real IFR experience. Reading these books will go a very long way towards converting all of that theoretical knowledge that you learned in ground school and flight training to practical use. I've always felt that it would take several hundred hours of actual IFR experience to gain the practical knowledge and insight that these authors have put in these books.

I recommend them highly.

How did you EVER survive?! I really feel sorry for you....having to go to such a horrible place to visit people you must hate.... ;)

Congrats. Now comes the really hard part for us GA folks: staying current!

In the (almost) 2 years since my ir checkride, I've flown in actual a total of about 10 times. That's why, every 6 months, instead of just grabbing a buddy to go shoot some approaches, I hire a CFII to go with me and basically do a refresher course (what are my T's? Hmmm, time, turn, tequila, torillas, uh...:)).
