Service starts tomorrow....has there been issues with the crews getting to Hawaii because the "great" company that Mesa is, is not flying the crews there and they have to jumpseat, which is, the way I see it, against the ALPA jumpseat guidelines.

Got to be great to have a discount airline flying in the islands but Can't carry surfboards in the cargo hold!!!

I just saw their website where they are offering $19 fairs through tomorrow and $39 fairs "indefinately." Why don't they just say "until we can screw you for morer money than ha or AQ ever charged."

Holy hostile takeover. My friends just emailed me the article for $19 seats. I guess it's easier to take a loss at 5% of your fleet while you force a whole operation to match your price. Good luck guys, I'd like to get home sometime this career, and it sure as hell won't be flying for Mesa.

Did somebody say fare war? Aloha Airlines, not to be outdone by the temporary $19 one-way air fare initiated by startup interisland carrier go! and matched by Hawaiian Airlines, said yesterday it would give away 1,000 free round-trip tickets, and dubbed the promotion the "Great Go Away Giveaway."

its actually pretty ingenious. All the TV news cameras were broadcasting LIVE from AQ's ticket counter this morning. Huge local families in line getting free tickets talking on TV. Go only got a quick few seconds blurb showing some extremely fat white trash getting off the airplane. I wonder if they had to buy two seats each? HOLY $HIT That family was OBESE. .

2000 free seats are spread over 175 days is only 12 free seats a day. 2000 seats at $19 (only $38K) would have been exhausted over the internet by all the web-savvy www.imacheapbastard.com price chincers. This way the people who needed the cheap tickets the most, and were willing to stand in line for a few hours, got the tickets.

The AQ spokesperson said Aloha was voted the #1 airline by Honolulu Advertiser Readers and this is the way they were thanking the people of Hawaii for voting ALOHA #1. Might be the best $38K AQ ever spent.

I was at the pw counter the other day while the mesa people were taking measurements of ours and island airs space for "when they take over the lease on the whole CAT." Wow, I knew that JO was arrogant, but that takes it to a whole new level...

I guess I dont get it, people commute/jump to work all over the place, what so different that these people commute/jump to HNL? (Dont mistake my question as a support of GO, just trying to understand your train of thought)

First of all let me state that I do not have a dog in this hunt as I'm an east coast cargo pilot but....Regardless if you were awarded the HNL domicile with a successful bid or by assignment, it has traditionally been the company's responsibility to initially position the crew to their new domicile. After that first positioning then it could be considered jumpseating or commuting. I think the argument here, and correct me if I am wrong, is that Mesa is not providing the transportation to HNL to position the crews to their new domicile but expecting them to position themselves. Look at the financial advantage gained by Mesa's management by saving the airline tickets to Hawaii for all of those employees. This was not the intent of reciprocal jumpseats. Whether you bid HNL or not it is the company's responsibility to get you there at least once. If training required those pilots to go to the main land then the company would once again be required to pay for that transportation. Anyway, good luck guys on your new crew base, I truly hope your company's policies do not endanger the one last great perk we have as 121 airline pilots.

Wow, Thanks for the info, I guess I had it all wrong. If that is true it is very sad. To take it a bit further, why doesn't the company make them responsible for flights out of KLAX or KSFO as well as PHNL? Get there on your own! Good luck and you better not be late otherwise you will have a missed trip letter in you file and or terminated!

Oh man, that will really get under the skin of the upper management at PW. This could really be a big fight if that is Mesa's intention.

all the jumpseat coordinators got on it and worked together on the issue. it seems as tho the mesa MEC was able to get their company to buy tickets for their guys. well, most of them anyway.

??? unless you know something I dont know. I have talked directly with several go pilots and NONE of them got paid travel to Hawaii.

All mesa did was launch 2 RJ's to pick up people from the outstation domiciles for the mandatory training which was probably ONLY because we made noise and they didnt want to pay AQ or HA for tickets.

I could be wrong. If you know for sure they bought some guys tickets fill me in. That would be encouraging.

They got neither. They got nothing except last minute phone calls telling them there was a mandatory meeting in Honolulu and they were all supposed to be there.
