I meant to Say

Unemployment, Social Security, Welfare, etc are all Socialist ideas put into our system to help recessions become stabe and from becoming out of control (like during the depression).

I doubt if Saddam's capture will change anybody's mind who feels this war was unjustified. It will only foster more resentment from those terrorist groups who hate us for our arrogance. Especially if we flip off the world again and don't turn him over to the Intl' War Crimes Tribunal so that we can seek a death penalty.

I am sorry but I believe he should be convicted by his own people, who else can truly proclaim that he is an evil man. If they want to execute him, it's their pejorative.

I don't understand why people want people executed. Saddam is an a$$hole, but keeping him alive in a prison for the rest of his life is worse punishment than ending it in a few seconds.

Maybe Iraqi people who don't like him can come visit, and piss on him every day. Now how is that for an ending?

The cost of keeping Saddam alive is peanuts compared to what we have already spent, so don't even go there.

Saved us from the Depression, thats a crock. The ones you should be thanking are the Japanese for bombing Pearl Harbor, bring us into the war and pulling us out of the Depression. Oh no wait you can still thank FDR for keeping the carriers out of port and saving the most important part of the Pacific Fleet.

For the record, Dean is a Socialist, not a Communist. There's a big difference.

Socialism means that the government takes care of social needs through entitlements paid for by taxes, and controls all wealth. Canada, Britain, France, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and just about every industrialized nation in the world except the US have a quasi-socalist system of government...

Communism means that everything is public property and nobody owns anything. Everything is controlled by the government and a few corrupt government insiders control all the wealth. China and the forrmer USSR are good examples.

Would it be OK for me to disagree with you publicly, or would this thread be closed because it's not aviation-related?

(I'm reluctant to comment, because you never answered my PM.)

I meant systems like social security help keep recessions from becoming depressions. Social Security from what I understand, was introduced a little after WWII.

I don't personally care if Dean is a Communist, a Socialist, or a Democrat. He believes in socialist ideas that have hurt out greatness as a nation, such as the aforementioned New Deal policies that are socialist ideas at their core. They have no place here. Leave them to Sweden, who produces little and relies on the rest of the world for its subsistance. How appropriate and ironic.

Social security was insolvent from its very first day. The first payment was received by a woman who had only put in a small sum of money, and the first payment was larger than what the woman had paid in.

SS is a "ponzi scheme", where you have to have a continuing growth in the number of people who are paying in so that you can meet the obligation to the people who are receiving "benefits". It is illegal for anyone to do this except the government.

Ultimately, entitlements will succeed in bringing down the United States where no terrorist will.

TB ... that post just blows me away. I can't fathom that you really BELIEVE everything you just wrote. That's very sad.

Unbelievable.

:(

Produces little!?!?!?! Produces little!?!?!?! Are you freaking nuts man????????? I'd say Sweden is holding up their end of the bargain quite fine in my book.

President Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act on August 14, 1935. Pearl Habor Day 12/7/41.
FDR's programs did nothing but hogtie the economy. We are still "benifiting" from it.

Snakum, I invite you to:

a) find a misstatement of fact in my post or,

b) find a logical argument against my opinion where not specifically recalling a fact.

Don't be sad. The truth will set you free.

TB,
He can't because there are no misrepresented facts in your post. You are 100% correct. There are no arguments that are logical that can refute what you said.

TB - Every here of a company called Volvo? Just a little company in Sweden that makes Cars, Trucks, Buses, Construction Equipment, Boat Engines, Fork Lifts, Space Propulsion, and believe it or not, 80% of the engine components for um...airplanes found in the world.

Are you saying the U.S. doesn't rely on the rest of the world for oil and other fossil fuels? Do you even know where we get most our oil from? I'll give you a hint, not the middle east.

If you were building time flying freight, you would realize that our production and industry is decreasing each year, thanks to American companies going overseas, where it is cheaper.

USCPilot, thanks for clearing up when ss was introduced...my bad.

In fact, I regularly flew the heads of Volvo around. They are spending most of their time in America. We are making Volvo great, not the Swedes.

Nice try, though. Points for originality.

TB - glad to hear that america is making sweden great, rather than supporting our own people and industry. you are a complete idiot!

Like I said, American industry is relying more and more overseas.

It was a simple process. We made the world safe for democracy, and forgave all our war debt. Then we let our industries slide and they were bought up by foreign interests.

It wasn't my idea, so I can't cop to being the "idiot" here.

Once again...just a quote from you.

Leave them to Sweden, who produces little and relies on the rest of the world for its subsistance. How appropriate and ironic.

you first said sweden produces little and relies on the rest of the world for its subsistance.

since you flew the bigwigs of volvo around, you should have already known this to be a false statement.

now you are agreeing that the u.s. is producing less and less and relies more and more on the rest of the world for its subsistance.

one more time...

How appropriate and ironic.

or in other words TB...

Is there a gun to our governments head forcing us to rely on ther countries for production and natural resources?

Aren't we in a recession right now where millions of Americans still don't have jobs? As more and more go overseas.

Your military education did you good!

you first said sweden produces little and relies on the rest of the world for its subsistance.

That's correct. WE are producing it for them, and the profit goes to Sweden, who did jack squat to keep the world free. Their biggest expot is porn. Wow. I'm impressed by their creativity.

since you flew the bigwigs of volvo around, you should have already known this to be a false statement.

It is partially becuase I flew them around that I know it it a true statement. We simply grabbed our ankles and let them have what they want.

now you are agreeing that the u.s. is producing less and less and relies more and more on the rest of the world for its subsistance.

No, I am agreeing that what we produce is less US owned than it has been or should be.

Sweden has a luxury that we don't have: a superpower that's taking care of business so they can have us build their vehicles.

I think Ford bought out Volvo a couple of years ago (at least the auto portion). Give them a few years to ruin the Volvo name :) .
