Even worse Dean actually humoring the idea that Bush let 9/11 happen for his own personal gain.

He said it on NPR.

just like reagan held the hostages in iran until his inauguration

My recollection of those days is that the Ayatollah Khomeini held the hostages until Carter was out of office, because Carter had mounted a failed rescue attempt, which he found "insulting".

To call MeDermott an "idiot" is degrading to real idiots. This jerk is in a class by himself.

I thought Hussein and Osama were chillin in the white house with Bush, just waiting for the right moment. I must be an idiot!

Impossible, considering Carter was President. The Iranians held the hostages until Reagan's inaugural to humiliate Carter or because they were afraid Reagan would have no mercy on them.

McDermott and Dean are not giving the democrats a good name.
One is a communist and the other can't be happy for the "other side" when everyone benefits from this victory. I am sure there are a few soldiers overseas who are democrats...they seem to be pretty happy that they caught SH. I doubt they are thinking about conspiracy theories. The troops are the real adults, the politicians here are just a bunch of whiney kids.

I have to agree. There probably are a few soldiers who are democrats. "Bush Democrats". Hmm. I like the sound of that. :)

Oddly enough, when I was in Uncle Sam's Hunt Club it seemed the average Grunt (not the support puke) was a middle-class white kid with a year or two of college, and probably 30% were lefties, maybe more. I would imagine there are probably more left-leaning Grunts nowadays than there were in the late 80s and there are probably MANY on both sides of the political spectrum in Iraq who disagree with the war but are doing their jobs.

As an aside, I always claimed to be a Communist. My Platoon leader was not amused. I guess he had nightmares about me jumping the fence in Coburg and taking my high-speed, low-drag 11Hotel BNOC skills over to the other side. :D

Stay out of school book depositories... :D

reagan holding hostages in iran

don't you guys remember during the 88 presidential election there were rumors floated fom the left that reagan had secretly negotiated the release of the hostages to happen after his inauguration? evidently george bush (41) was the lead man.

chemtrails on the brain.

I remember.

When you don't have the truth, all you have left is rumors of conspiracies, secret deals, and alterior motives. That's one of the reasons I left the party.

Timebuilder...

Newsflash - the Republican Party is just as crooked as the Democratic.

...The Truth is out there, somewhere.

For the record, Dean is a Socialist, not a Communist. There's a big difference.

Socialism means that the government takes care of social needs through entitlements paid for by taxes, and controls all wealth. Canada, Britain, France, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and just about every industrialized nation in the world except the US have a quasi-socalist system of government...

Communism means that everything is public property and nobody owns anything. Everything is controlled by the government and a few corrupt government insiders control all the wealth. China and the forrmer USSR are good examples.

Regardless, the timing of saddam's capture won't mean a thing for Dubya's re-election. A lot can happen in a year.

I doubt if Saddam's capture will change anybody's mind who feels this war was unjustified. It will only foster more resentment from those terrorist groups who hate us for our arrogance. Especially if we flip off the world again and don't turn him over to the Intl' War Crimes Tribunal so that we can seek a death penalty.

Back to the original point...maybe we should all temporarily relocate to Washington...vote this knuckle-head out of office...then move back home. Just an off the wall thought.

Whatever.
No, kevdog's right. That's what's so frustrating about our political system.

And the fact that neither side will acknowledge this simple truth makes it even worse.

ifly4food, I agree with you but isn't Dean a Democrat? Maybe you are confusing him with Congressman B. Sanders (VT) - who a long time ago was part of the Socialist Party but is now an Indy.

On another note, I don't believe there is any true form of socialist or capitalist government. Unemployment, Social Security, Welfare, etc are all Socialist ideas put into our system to help recessions become out of control.

Now, if Timebuilder lived in Sweden, I think he would be shocked how well the Gov't takes care of their own people there, and to think that they follow a socialist evil-doer philosophy.
