I've had it. I think I'm pretty much fed up with the religious and political threads.

It's a great idea gone horrible wrong.

You come to an aviation website because you love aviation. Right? You think you might enjoy your time there. You might even learn something. Or perchance even help someone.

But I'll tell you what. I have never visited a website that is so consistently HOSTILE.

Pilots actually fighting with pilots.

There is so much testosterone here I'm actually growing hair on my monitor.

Yeah, I know: If you don't like it, don't read it.

Well guess what? I can tolerate the occasional political thread; the occasional religious thread. I enjoy matching wits as much as the other guy.

But this website is degenerating thanks to a select few. These few are rabidly fanatical with religious and political views.

I mean, dammit, I have my views too but they're MINE!!

I'm sick of the constant barrage of partisan politics and religious fundamentalism.

I come here because I love to fly. Period. So sue me if I've participated in a political thread because I'm compelled to answer a comment that I find terribly ill-informed.

But short of lodging a formal complaint I'm making an appeal to everyone to just BACK THE HELL OFF.

I'm not asking for a ban on anything outside of aviation.

I'm just asking for a little common courtesy. A little respect for the fact that I may not think like you and I don't appreciate your inflammatory language when I come here to enjoy what I consider to be the only thing I've ever commited my entire adult life to.

I'm on the record. Thank you.

Mar, if you like, I'll buy you out.

You're flying and I'll be selling appliances at Home Depot after my day's bookings for pharmaceutical companies and jewelry stores, but I should be able to come up with 50 bucks if you feel so wronged.

My position is this, just to clarify.

If someone starts a thread topic that I find interesting, I'll participate. I still take part in avition discussions.

If I see a topic that I am not intersted in, I don't click on the link. It's simple. In fact, it is the same argument used by liberals when it comes to television programming.

So, I could understand your frustration if these were "pop-up" threads, and you had to constantly close them, but we know that this is not the case.

See on the next aviation thread. Still buds?

And I understand his feelings. Mar can have his views, too, no one is saying that he can't.

I just think he is confusing the attack-er with the attack-ee.

O.K.

I like flying boats and finally decided to start a flight training business doing something I like.

Sometimes there is not much to do but when I do take on a new customer at least I get to travel and do something different and interesting as well as get paid fairly decent money for my time.

What do you like to fly?

Flying boats. Ok.

I have this fantasy for my retirement.

One of those hull seaplanes, the twin with the round engines mounted on the wings, well clear of the spray, to save the props? I don't know what kind it is, but I've seen several in pictures.

Anyway, I have retired to a small home in the Florida keys, and make a small living hopping to islands and giving sightseeing rides.

Sound good? If I make enough, I'll take A&P lessons to fix the thing myself.

Anyone know the plane I'm talking about?

Well you've got your Grumman Goose, Widgeon, Mallard, or Albatross. Hell....how about a Martin Mars?! ;) Myself?...I'm partial to the Turbo Mallard (turboprops). I'd take one of those any day. Anyone know how to get a job with Chalk's Ocean Airways flyin those beasts?

A goose, huh?

Whats a twin engine seaplane cost? I have the used aircraft guide somewhere, but it's packed away.

My pain...

...knows no end.

I guess I got what I asked for.

The thread was hijacked by aviation.

Ya gotta love it.

(I'm surprised generaltso hasn't chimed in here, yet. :D )

In my defense, the only religious thread I ever started had to do with pilots...and I promptly deleted it.

Although I'm guessing, mar, that I'm not one of the "select few" you were referring to...(?)

I'm with you on that one, bud.

So Mar, are you going to start that thread about that avatar airplane? I'd like to hear about it. :)

Well I just wondered if there was anyone here that actually have any experience in "flying"

Sorry to have disappointed some of you.

Um, no dice.

TB--No. I'm not starting a thread about some old greasy DC6. What can I say? They're bitchy. They're old. And it pays my bills.

So what?

Typhoon--No man. You're not one of the few. You start more aviation threads than political ones.

I'm just really in a mood lately. I don't know what gives. Probably six months of darkness and freezin' my butt off.

I don't know.

Carry on.
