Hi All
I am out of job for quite some time and now at the end of road would like to try airinc. It is pricy. and I do not know by spending another $400.00 for membership and the job fair would realy worth it or not?
Also would like to see if any of you attend the job faire or not and if it is worth it?
Thank you for your feed back.
Sincerely, FLY Safe

If you're a furloughed ALPA member, there is a significant discount for Air Inc. services. I just get the newsletter right now to keep a pulse on who's hiring/who's not.

When I was activly searching for employment, the address directory was very valuable. You can buy that seperate. The salary/benifits guide is useful, but you can get that info elsewhere. You can buy each part of the "kit" seperate ... so if you're not eligible for the discount, and on a budget, I'd say the address guide and newsletter is worth those individual costs, but the rest of the services are hit or miss as far as value goes.

I've never been to the job fair, but had a friend go to the ATL one a few months ago... he got calls for interviews from Comair, ACA, and ASA within a few weeks and now has job offers from Comair and ACA so I'd say he got his money's worth. So it seems like a good networking opportunity, but as to the results for the money probably also depends on your personal qualifications.

Right on the $. Air Inc. is akin to an info clearing house/one stop shopping expo. If your quals meet or in this market exceed your target carrier's mins and you're current, go for it. Otherwise it's a grand afternoon for getting up to date info and some face time. I attended the LAX seminar/fair two years ago and was happy with the experience.

Air Inc.

I agree with FlyingSig - and I'm not just saying that because he taught me to fly. i'm the friend he mentioned.

the Job Fair is definitely worth the money if you're interviewing for a regional. you get to talk to every airline that's hiring (or taking resumes) and you get face time with people in the hiring department. ask them whatever you want to know - just don't sound like your comparison shopping.

the membership - i like the newsletters for hiring info, and the magazine for company history. but most of the stuff sits on my bookshelf, but it would probably be handy if you're getting back into interview. but keep in mind you DO NOT have to be a member to go to the fair and you can buy whatever you do like when you're there.

i first went to Air Inc ATL in July of 01. i barely had 1000 hours, but a lot of jet SIC time. i got 2 interviews plus strong interest from 3 others once i hit 1200 hours. then 9/11 hit - buh-bye interviews. I went back this year with 1500 hours and a type rating. gave my resume to 5 regionals, got interviews with Comair, ACA and ASA, got offered jobs at two of the three.

the fair has lots of seminars and other stuff, do it if you're interested, but this year i just went to the recruiting phase @ 4-7 p.m. on saturday. you wait in a bunch of lines, and then you get a few minutes with each recruiter. you may get a pilot or an HR person. introduce yourself and list your strong quals in 60 seconds, and if they like your numbers, you'll get an interview. comair called immediately, ACA a week later, and ASA about a month or so later. have letters of recommendation to the ones you like when you get to the fair. if you have letters, you'll get an interview - trust me.

good luck!

I went to the DFW job fair in Jan '00 and within 2 weeks I had interviews with Eagle, Comair, ACA, PSA, and TSA. Eagle actually set up the interview at the fair. I would say that is not bad for a days work. It sure beats sending in a resume to fall into a pile of thousands. I would say that if nothing else, the job fair is worth the cash.
