Let's say that the Horizon Air pilots walk away with NO wage concessions. Will that affect you guys in any way? Or are you "doomed" to be locked in a race-to-the-bottom for the foreseeable future? Just curious what you guys think.

It would be an interesting event. However it's chances of actually happening are slim to none, so I wouldn't spend too much time thinking about it.

Hope you're wrong. It'll be interesting to see how it all turns out :)

Based on what Horizon-specific evidence or logic? Anything to back this all-too-typical outsider sentiment up, or are you just in a Chicken Little mood? The sky is falling! The sky is falling!

You have got to be kidding me? Another regional asking for concessions? This is insanity! Yeah 30 to 45 grand for an FO and 80 for a captain is just outrageously high huh? Who could possibly think this when a mortgage on a cheap house and payments on an average car will run you 2 grand a month for just those 2 items alone. Oh I forgot, we are airline pilots, we don't have a right to have a home or a new car.

By the way, why is the pay rate for the CRJ700 significantly higher than the Q400 which carries more passengers?

Who do you think you are, Donald Trump or somebody? Everyone knows only management deserves nice things. You go fire up the Chevy Cavalier and stop your complainin'. :D

Not exactly. Our contract is due to be renegotiated. As would be expected there has been utterings that our pay is higher than the likes of Skywest and Mesa and that our benefits are better.....etc. etc. As for a request for concessions that has not happened.

In my opinion we should compare and contrast our existing contract with Southwest. Since, they are our primary competitor in most markets and financially we are more or less going in the same direction. And, unlike, Skywest and Mesa we are not tied directly to any Bankrupt corporations.

As for the 400 pay vs RJ, it is 10% less. True it does generate more revenue but as we should all know it is hard to break industry norms. And of course an "upgrade" does mean flying a jet....right??????????????????

Because it's all that coveted jet time that will get you hired by the majors..
Therefore it's probably senior

Hired by a Major? Other than Continental, who is hiring? By the time the furloughs are brought back and the restructing is done, who'll be left?

Sorry, Mr. Dolla Dolla Bling, my [sarcasem] [/sarcasem] function must not have worked properly

I thought the standard was that things must remain "status quo" at least during negotiations. So, outside of BK, what leverage would Horizon have to impose cuts?

"Ding! Ding! Ding! Monte, tell that man what he's won!"

"Contestant, for having the correct answer, you've won the right to continue wearing the monkey suit and sea captain's hat that only impresses the little kiddies!"

The chances of it happening are quite good. We have the power. We have the time on our side. We have made money for three years straight. And.....we can vote no, over and over and over again. I find it quite humorous all you outsiders think we will have the weak backbone of all the other regional guys out there. We are different and like it!
