you all did it to yourself.....you decided to go work for min wage and then you bi tch....make your bed and sleep in it.

Buscap, give me one reason why regional pilots shouldn't be allowed to make a wage that allows them to live above poverty level?

Are we all a bunch of socialists? If so, then be sure and let McDonalds know that you would like to pay ten bucks for that Big Mac, so they can pay a wage which keeps everyone above what will be a continually rising poverty line. And please be darn sure and vote socialist from now on.

Or perhaps we can have a little pride and quit sniveling about what pilots are worth.

We are worth somewhere around what we are willing to work for. It's a self defining little part of capitalism.

Regional pilots are "allowed" to make an above the poverty line wage. But in a free market system, there is no place for any consideration but that of market forces. Withholding of services is a valid method of shaping those market forces even in a free market economy. And very effective when protected by the rule of law, thus keeping us from wrestling with management in the streets in a Hoffa-esque tragedy of blood.

You want more money? Fine. Fight for it. You will get a paycheck relative to the collective bargaining fight you wage. But that paycheck will be the result of sweat equity, not some ridiculous water-cooler-talk load of crap.

First off, if ALPA is doing the fighting, then nothing will get done.
Second, it has nothing to do with being a socialist.
Pay based on market? Sure, then the regionals should make more than mainline pilots seeing that they fly more routes, more legs and more passengers in a given day over a mainline pilot.

Let's make sausage!!

Put the meat in the window and stick a price tag on it.

Adjust the price until it sells. If it sold too quick, raise the price.

That's market forces.

The price isn't what you think it should be. The price is what it sells for.

Don't like the game?

Fine. Elect folks who will impose sausage price controls guaranteeing you are able to sell your sausage for blah blah blah, or maybe provide sausage subsidies. (socialism)

Or stop selling your sausage, until people come to you, begging you to open up the butcher shop again. (withholding services)

Or hire a marketer.

Or make better sausage than the other guys!!

But don't stand in the doorway of your butcher shop lamenting the injustice of folks not paying enough for your sausage. It's worth what they pay for it. Not what you think it's worth. And sometimes, people pay less than it cost you to make the sausage.

OOOOPPSYY!!

Time to go into the pizza biz!!!

Walmart has allowed families to buy clothing and shoes and food who otherwise could not have afforded the same quality or quantity. Walmart has saved families thousands of dollars so they can buy books and other necessities for their kids. Walmart has provided thousands of jobs to people who otherwise would be on welfare. Walmart has done far more good for this country than bad.

Yes....they create jobs, but they are only $8-$10/hr jobs. You can't live on that. They have also cause jobs to move overseas by demanding the lowest possible price from their suppliers.

Ya know what folks,

I am sick and tired of this whining. Why on earth are pilots entitled to some higher standard of living than the rest of the population, just because we're pilots? I've heard all the lame arguments about the level of training, the expense of training, whatever. But for pete's sake- there are irregularities like that all over our supposed free-market system and I don't hear us as a group addressing those at all.

Do you shop at Walmart? Do you not feel the least bit bad about buying that low priced microwave, knowing full well that thirty years ago some UNION worker at a GE plant lost his job, because Sam Walton thought it a good idea to get the stuff cheaper from China?

When was the last time you voted FOR a property tax increase in order to give school teachers a raise????

When was the last time you got on AMAZON and paid the highest price you could for anything? Knowing full well that it was your God-ordered duty to pay the highest price, thus enriching the lives of everyone in the supply chain!!!

Have you voted Democrat 100% of the time? Knowing that unions and the AFLCIO fully back the Democrats and their ideal of worker's rights.

Blah blah blah!!!!

Vote with your vote.

Vote with your feet.

Vote with your wallet.

Until you do all those, quit your whining and enjoy the ride on this magnificent wealth building innovative machine, we call the almost kinda sort've free market economy.

You can't have it both ways people!!!

Now go heat up your tears in that cheap made-in-China microwave and shut up!!

I agree with buscap for the most part. Free market forces at work here people...supply and demand. BTW, This is where ALPA has failed pilots miserably. They still use blunt force tactics that were used in a regulated era to accomplish their goals. This doesn't work any more. They should be using microeconomics to influence wage rates, not strikes.

I do agree that whining serves no other purpose than to display your character. If you don't like the pay then quit. In fact, if we refused to work for such measly wages then it would effect supply-side economics and raise wages. Assuming airlines can't lower their minimums anymore, because of bills going through congress.

I do realize this is easier said than done, because we all love to fly and couldn't imagine doing anything else. Right? We all love to do this job and some will take anything to do it...to a point. I say this because I have recently found myself at the short end of a furlough list. I have set certain minimum standards for my family, and if a flying job can't meet those standards then I'll find something else to do. That's what's great about this country, and what many of us take for granted...Liberty!!! It's just the name of the game, and I would take that over the perils of socialism any day.

He's filing bankruptcy and no, he doesn't live outside of his means. He drives a 1992 Ford, she has a old Honda Accord.

Bankruptcy is design to eliminate unsecured debt...nothing more. If they are filing for bankruptcy then they have unsecured debt and were living beyond their means. The only exception is to this is medical debt, which is the major cause of bankruptcy.

Bankruptcy doesn't pay your mortgage or eliminate student loans.

U need help.
