I heard this rumor last night. Does anyone know anything about this?

History repeating itself 15 years later.
I hope not, Good Luck AWA!

PSA and USAir :crying:
AWA and USAir  ?

Block hours for LAS are up a bit for January and A320 hours for PHX are down a whole bunch (I'm back on reserve). Doesn't seem to make sense to close LAS. You startin' this rumor, buddy?

Remember, you heard about our new E190 base in the midwest from me. (rumor!)

Nope, the rumor mill runs just fine without any help from me. It's just something that was going around the crew room last night.

Per AWA Union and Doug Parker: (Could of changed)

AWA was not planning on closing any domicles as of December 2005.

We will see if things changed in the last 30 days.

Hansoma,

Musta been all them hours sitting in traffic across the pass done affected yer hearing. Not a peep from where I've been sitting, so I hope it is wrong. I'm actually learnin' to like the redeyes!

I think you might be mixing things up a little bit. LAS wasn't even a base for AWA until recently, previously they just deadheaded a whole lot of crews back and forth from PHX. If the rumor is true it would just mean a whole lot of deadheading again, not the massive shrinkage I think you are alluding to.

LAS was a base for AWA many years ago.

There is still a lot of deadheading between LAS and PHX.

vetrider: Look back at the route structure of PSA on the West Coast before USAir bought them.
Now look at USAirways route structure today on the West Coast.
U does not even have the planes MD-80, F-28 etc. they bought 15 years ago.

U management is some of the same that said "You cant make money only flying cargo." 15-20 years ago.

Hopefully they wont chase Parker away, if they do jump ship.

I'm aware of the history with PSA. I'm not sure just what mangagers you are talking about, but of the senior leadership only Al Crellin has ties to the old guard. I suppose anything is ultimately possible, but the ink isn't even dry on the deal yet I don't see anything that major happening that soon. I think its just some guys letting their imaginations go for a ride at this point.

As far as closing LAS as a crew base, that is plausible at this point, kind of doubt it though. Of course I'm just a line pilot who doesn't know anything one way or another, just along for the ride like the rest.

Closing LAS

The latest rumor I heard was that we were closing LAS and opening a domecile in SEA for those of us who refuse to move to the desert.....wait it wasn't a rumor, it was just me dreaming again. :)

SEA huh, well I know two of you guys here that would still be JUNIOR to me!;)

Seriously though, I heard this on my out of the crew room and I was just checking to see if anyone else had heard it or had any concrete information to share. Hopefully we'll be able to file it under "rampant speculation".

Funny, that file seems to get bigger everyday....

Where does this mess come from?? I got a call yesterday about a crew room rumor of furloughing several hundred pilots?

Ok news flash, no more rumors for the rest of the year!!!! Ahhh how long a wait is that????

seriously neither of the two are true.

I think I know where the furlough rumor started but I'll just keep my mouth shut.

You and I both know how thick that file is at 'the other' airline too! So big I may have to take workers-comp 'cus my back is aching from carrying it!
