How to figure career earnings??

Figure out what you think in nominal $$$ you will make each year. Factor in raises and promotions. Then discount at a reasonable cost of living for each year(3%?) into the future. Add up the results.

Example: In year three of your flying career you expect to make 35k. Take 35K and divide by 1.03 to the third power. For the fourth year, use the 4th power. You can use excel to do this in about five minutes. Throwing in values for benefits and retirement is up to you.
